    Probably because the Illustrated edition costs much more than the normal edition. If all books were in the boxset then most probably the price would be outrageous and people wouldn't buy them. But I get what you are saying 👍

    This version of the 5th book only came out last year, they have been slowly releasing them since 2015

  I’ve bought the first 4 in the set and read them with my kid, they’re beautifully illustrated and well worth the money. Each single book I’ve bought has been discounted to about $35 at the time on Amazon so not a huge saving on the box set but nice to have either way.

    They're beautifully illustrated indeed. But we got sucked into buying the first one on clearance at $1 at Target and now it hurts every time I look into complete the collection.

        I'm guessing it was probably when Target were closing a number of stores a couple of years back. They were getting rid of all stock at absolute bargain prices.

  Jim Kay (the illustrator), will not be illustrating the last two books!!

  AND, it looks like there is two versions of the 1-3 set (2017, $79 and 2018, $150). The difference being the font used on the front cover and the publisher is different.

  This is somewhat frustrating but never the less, this still looks like a fantastic buy if it for the kids (who wont care about this kind of stuff).

    Jim Kay has serious health issues which is why he isn't illustrating the entire series.

      Oh yeah, not having a go and thats fair enough.

      Just pointing it out as the artwork may differ in future.
