Okay if you need them in bulk for whatever reason, large families, work, or vulnerable friends/family.

Otherwise most states have a scheme to get them free no questions asked, for example at council buildings (libraries, town hall, etc).

Usually only in quantities of 5-10 per visit though so if you need more than that and value time this is a good price

We get free boxes of these at our local library…

  • Wtf is 95% accuracy

      5% less than 100.

5% miss their nostril and poke the swab in their eye.

Do these rats actually work anymore? Are they testing for sensitivity on recent strains? What's the point :/

      • +2

For anyone skimming - ignore this answer, poster is a cooker (read below comments for their conspiracy theories).

        These work, and work well.

        • +1

Just to clarify I'm not associated with soda-pop or their comments. I was just wondering about how accurate sensitivity claims are with newer strains and whether manufacturers are updating rats to better detect and keep their usefulness.

Disclaimer: I do not think covid is an engineered virus aimed at certain people. That would be madness

      Short answer is yes.

        • Nup. Can't work it out.

@wetwork: Mammals. Those crab people got us good.

            • @schquid: Thought it was the lizard who are out to get us?

      • short question is -Why?

    • +8

      Absolutely they do.

      Generalizing for the newer strains;
They're almost never wrong with a positive result. (High 95-99%)

But they can give an incorrect negative; last I checked it was somewhere in the 80% accurate range.

For the sake of illustration; even if you pretend it was horrid, like 50%, if everyone who felt sick tested, that would still halve the wild virus walking around.

The point is to protect the ones you love, or if you're an ethics driven person, protect your community because you dont really know whos vulnerable.

Do you need a Costco membership for the website or only in store?

    • +3

$18.96 plus $60 per year membership fee. How is that cheaper? Coles don't charge anything to shop there.

      • You don't need a membership for all of the items which are sold online.

        • +3

I couldn’t get passed check out without logging in and I couldn’t register without a membership number

WA giving these out all over the place. Aunty had 80 given to her, they refused to let her not take them lol

  • +1

i tried 5 of these and they told me i didn't have covid

  • -4

Why would anyone need to a covid test now? Its endemic and not an issue.

Free RAT tests program in WA
    https://www.wa.gov.au/government/covid-19-coronavirus/covid-…

A few weeks back, I was a close contact and ran out of RAT. Contacted my local MP office, they even dropped some off to my house!

I might need a few. I got a new 5g phone last week.

    • Spot on 😄

  • +2

If you are in WA - they are giving away free boxes at schools and shopping centers pretty much daily used by dates Feb 2024.

  • Might need these in Sydney.

  • Thank you! I need some more and this is a great price at a common store.
Extra thanks for posting the expiry date.

  • I have a kid in daycare, I want a test that swabs for Covid/Influenza and RSV!

I find these "Testsealabs Covid Nasal Test" the most accurate. I work with people with disabilities and we've used other brands where we have gotten false negatives only to use this brand and get a positive. We asked other staff to double test their clients and some (not all) noticed similar results. In our tests we found that this brand detected COVID-19 earlier than the two other brands that we had in stock, so in one case I remember Flowflex and 2SAN test kits would test positive one or 2 days later than Testsealabs.
Admittedly the test sample was only 5 clients of which 2 people got identical results from either brand. Needless to say I will be grabbing a box if I can.

    • JusChek is another one we've had big success with in the age care industry.

Strangely, they never seem to show a STRONG result (the line is always super feint) but they pickup where others miss; and being elderly care, they're then confirmed by labs for strain etc.

  • A hard sell in WA - there was a pallet load outside my local Coles and the lady basically wouldn't let anyone walk past without taking at least 80 for free

    • Yeah - I just walked by a table full right outside the entry to Coles lol.

    hahhaha sheep still use these?

    • Spotted the cooker!

      • -1

ok clotter, hope you live to tell your sheep tale

  • thanks op!! to answer any questions if these are still working fine I just picked up a box as I'm unwell and thought I better do a test.. I tested positive twice and my partner negative twice..
Only reason I bothered testing is my partner is going to my sister's baby shower tomorrow..
I sent my son of to school this morning with a cough, oops

    It’s funny
Had only two when it was high Covid time. None in the last two and a half years. Never needed it. No point anymore.

That's what I thought, haven't had Covid in all this time and figured it was over but ended up picking it up in Brisbane last weekend and it knocked me around like a really bad flu. Bought a box from local chemist today that confirmed I had it.
