30% off Bare Root Heritage Apple Trees on DWARF Rootstock, + Delivery from Tas

90
END-OF-SEASON-30

Proudly raise a middle finger to Coles and WW! Discover that apples do have taste, not like the bland crap kept in cold storage for six months. Juice your own and get rid of the "Proudly made with Chinese concentrate and Australian tap water" 2L cartons sold for $6 each. Impress friends with terms like espalier, heritage and dwarf rootstock! Disappoint them when they find out what you'd actually grown when you said you were "growing your own".

Site blurb - "These apples are ideal for back yards, small orchards, espaliers or anywhere where space is tight. Varieties ripen from Christmas to July providing 6 months of fruit. We’ve included some more recent varieties as well as historic ones. There are excellent eating apples, cookers, big, small, common and unusual. Something for every occasion."

Shipping was about $22 to Vic for 5 trees. You can probably get cheaper generic bare root trees from Bunnings, but you wont get the variety or quality. It's a good Tasmanian business, give em a go…..

    Are these self pollinating trees?

  • Have to get in before 21 August and, as I suspected, no love AT ALL if you are in WA.
I do agree with Elijha, nice sales pitch.

  • Thank you so much! I was looking at these guys earlier in the week but hadn't decided on ordering or not. Brilliant :D

  • For those interested in multivariety (getting more varieties using less gardening space etc)

Masters had multi variety trees when I went there in June.

    I picked up a 3 way apple for $68.98.
    Golden Delicious
    Granny Smith
    Jonathon

There were some other 3 ways of apples as well as 3, 2 and 1 way of other fruits as well.

Back in June the trees were pretty tall (5 foot) though the branches were somewhat flexible. I managed to fit it into a large size sedan lying down at an angle.

Their rootstocks are also very cheap for those able to, or interested in, grafting their own - around $9.50 for a handful (so 5 or 6, I guess)
