  How is this game these days? I played the first MK endlessly, then a bit of MKII. They’re up to 11 now.

    It's more story based than the old games . There's towers to unlock gear and skins, weekly challenges and rankings.

    Your forced to play part of the story to unlock Frost, the story is decent, you don't have to finish it but it explains the new game Mortal Kombat 1 that was just announced.

    You unlock stuff via the krypt which is also kind of a separate open world platform puzzle game.

    Your character runs around and unlocks chests and solves puzzles to unlock different areas of the krypt.

    The Krypt is the super frustrating part of this game, it's the most grind I've ever put in and there is progression but it's a big chore

    Otherwise the game is fun and has some all time incredible fatalities.

    Cassie cage has a hilarious fatality, super worth it for the price.

      Thanks for your detailed response.

      Sounds ok, maybe I should try it. I just have this feeling that developers of games like this should not try to bring in stories and platformer type stuff into the game but rather focus on improving the fighting physics (within limits of being fictional - lightning, freezing, etc). Often what happens is an original is great but sequels are not much good, that’s why I asked. Reminds me of Carmageddon, in the second one they changed the people to zombies and made their blood green.

        Well they did improve on the fighting game aspect and there's 2 fatalities but so many hidden brutalities and combos.

        The brutality can only be landed when conditions are met before a finish them.

        Mercy is kind of a hidden feature where you bring them back with limited health from the brink only to enable unload a brutality to finish.

        They have X ray moves which are triggered and you see a slow down detailed view of a bones breaking and organs being crushed. It's the most gory Mortal Kombat and some bits I can't believe they allowed in a game.
