TCL 55" P715 QUHD Android TV $399 + Delivery @ Myer

440

I've been trying to get a cheap OLED TV since I've got my PS5 on the Target deal and while I haven't found one just yet, I ended up finding this TV quite cheap.

It seems it is the cheapest 55" available right now after the quick research I've done, even cheaper than the Kogan ones.

I can't talk about the quality of this one in particular, but I have had a TCL tv in the bedroom for the past 3 years and it does the job, I'd definitely consider this one if I was after a budget TV, especially if it is the secondary TV.

By the way, I am still after a 65 OLED, I am considering the Hisense X8HAU just because it is the cheapest I could find, if you have any recommendations, I am happy to hear.

Don't trust any of the specifications on Myer's webpage. For example, they list the power consumption as "Kilowatts: 230".

If that power consumption was true, the TV uses about 40 times more power than your oven, and the electricity to run the TV costs about $60 per hour.

    • Haha that's Tesla peak charging speed in Australia.

Make sure there's enough room to add a small building in your yard, to house the large transformer that will be needed, and the upgrade to three-phase power.

And a standard 10-amp power point can only supply 2.3 kilowatts, you'll need a much larger power point!

I think the average ozbargainer is clever enough to figure out that that is an average annual usage figure in kilowatt hours…

I thought it was meant to say that it runs on 230V

    • 230kwh per annum maybe

  • Thanks OP. Cant seem to find reviews for this model

  • One single star review on Myer site
Dunno what model it refers to.

I have this TV in 50". It's not great. Slow to turn on, slow to use apps. Picture quality and motion are average. The definition of entry level.

The only way this TV would be useable as a main TV is with something like a CCwGTV.

I think I got this model a year or so ago when it came out for about 1000 as ours died. It's fine for a main tv , if you're a normal person just wanting a decent mid range tv it should work for you, isn't too slow from standby etc. The android in it works ok too. Not a top line tv by any stretch but a big leap from the Ffalcons etc. For $400 I'd say it's a good price. You have to pay a fair bit more to make the jump to significantly better tech.

  • @IgorRullez how about this OLED 65inch? https://www.myer.com.au/p/tcl-c735-series-65-165cm-premium-4…

X8HAU looks like a good deal. However, i could't find any "professional" review on this model.

    • Yeah, I wanted to know how they perform compared to the big brands, but I haven't been able to find any credible reviews either.

  • Bought one of these a few Christmas's ago for my sons new Xbox. Great picture quality and hasn't missed a beat. Cost us $600 back then.

  • Seeing generic Chinese 65 OLEDs (ie. Come out here as Metz etc ) around the $700 mark. So cheaper OLEDs are around, just not here yet. Minimum buy is around 10 units at that price point..ask for them with OzB badges.

I bought a 4k OEM (LG panel) in 2012 for $600. Harveys had no clue what 4k even meant back then, and was then $1000s a few years later…still working today. Rubbish system menu, but LG 4K picture.

  • Just got a cancellation email from Myer 😫
