What is the better option?
I really really like this device, I actually bought two. I did find that the remote is slippery, and a couple cheap silicon covers from Amazon solved that.
I have a first gen Chromecast that does the job fine, I've got kids and don't have an issue using my phone to choose something to put on, they have their own tablets so they don't need to watch on the tv. Is there any benefit to getting one of these to replace it?
My only issue with the OG Chromecast is that Kayo no longer works on it. My only motivation to upgrade!
a couple that i found:
1) vpn. can use it on the device to watch os content easily
2) although you dont see it as a benefit greatly, not having to use your phone, etc to stream is sooo much nicer and doesnt chunk your battery life.
3) Simplicity. Plug and play style design. Bought one for elderly relative recently.

I recently noticed my 4K version had been set to output HD image, so I changed it to 4K. The interface slowed down a little and wasn't as great. I mean, it was still responsive, but not as smooth.
I guess this one has no such issue. (No 4K option, no such problem).
Can you cast Google photos on to this? Have a Samsung Q85B and the option wouldn't come.
