    Bugger all to be honest…

I have no idea why this is only like 10% of their bluray and 4k offerings. Still picked up a couple things but bizarre from Amazon. They've dropped the ball lately. Prime Day better be worth it.

Top Gun Maverick 4k is $5 cheaper than JBHifi, but not as much selection to pair it with

    • That's interesting. When searching for "4K" in the qualifying items section, Maverick doesn't show up. Might be more available than initially thought.

Edit - Searching for "UHD" shows a couple more.

      • If you're searching for "Ultra HD" you get even more.

        • Yea I tried all 3 of those. Sucks that they all aren't listed the same so they just show up…

Unfortunately it's not the full catalogue, though it seems to be more than yesterday.

However, there is a HUGE difference between ordering here and ordering from JB HIFI though—and that's the cart.

It's buy 1 get 1 free, so naturally you pick a few pairs of equally/similarly priced blurays. When you add them all to the cart, JB does this annoying thing where it selects the lowest value blurays as the ones that are free, no matter what. For example, say you had 2 x $25, 2 x $12, 2 x $7, when placing them all into one cart, it'll only give the 2 x $7 and 1 x $12 as free. So in order to bypass this, you have to place separate transactions—but then you'll have to pay separate shipping for each one, and the stock availability in-store is all over the place now. It's done this for years, and I've always ended up just closing the tab after being reminded of this fact. I even asked JB over the phone yesterday if they could manually put it through correctly in 1 order and was told they can't do it and "that's just how the system does it"

I just added 3 pairs of varied value blurays to the cart on Amazon. The system automatically assigned the correct pricing.

    All with free prime shipping.

Will be looking here from now on.

    • Agree with what you're saying. Even though you'd close the tab, there would be a lot who don't even realise or persist, regardless.

Still though, I choose to give my business to JB because they are the ones who actually run the deal (and many other great deals in the physical media space) with their entire catalogue. The best "deals" I have seen on Amazon have been Prime Day where a lot of titles are $15-$20 which isn't great, or the occasional boutique release from the US/UK.

Amazon, rather lazily, chooses to copy them a couple days later with a 90% reduction in titles available. If JB didn't initiate, Amazon would not offer the discount.

I ordered a fair few between both but ended up being 90% JB / 10% Amazon.

Grabbed a couple of things too, thanks

  • The big difference between amazon au and jbhifi deal is the free postage.
