  • Trying to use this on a return Perth to Sydney route in mid-June - same price as normal non-promo. Anything I am missing?

Probably not. Just about every recent bargain on domestic flights has been nonsense.

Flights are exactly the same price for me as when I checked non-code yesterday ($135 off peak for a 1hr flight is hilarious).

  • 'selected' routes so maybe that's not one of the routes under this promo?

    • What exactly is this fraud you’re referring to?

The major mining, gas, telecom, transport, insurance, banking and other industries that pay f-all taxes are doing it because its legal, and great for shareholders and for company development. Hell the WA govt collects more from your car rego than the entire mining industry. Its how the tax code is written and everything that they are doing is legal under ATO, State and Federal laws and not fraud lmao.

If you are truly that angry, go become a Federal MP and change it yourself.

The WA government collects over $12b in mining royalties alone - that's without all of the other state taxes mining companies pay (land tax, stamp duty, payroll tax etc). How is this less than what is collected through rego?

Who would’ve thought that a business that made no profit - and in fact went in to liquidation in April 2020 - paid no income tax in the 2021 financial year?

    • +1

That is a terribly written article with very selective figures that doesn't tell any real story - please stop getting your news from news.com.au

  • 4 routes isn’t much of a deal

  • Still quite expensive. I implore people to start trying alternative airlines (REX, Bonza etc) to bring some competition to this industry. Reducing the demand on the mainline carriers such as QF & DJ VA is necessary to cease the price gouging currently going on.

Rex, the Singaporean-owned airline that whined about the pandemic and threatened to pull essential regional routes when they were needed most, got a great big handout (John Sharp is a former National Party MP and current party member) and used those savings to immediately and opportunistically launch a massive expansion of their business using former VA aircraft. It's ridiculous what they've gotten away with after fleecing the taxpayer, and they won't see me onboard.

      • Ok, those are fair points you make regarding REX.
