  • This has wool blend. A few washes and this will too wear out. Anyone using this?

I wear another pair inside so I don't wash them a lot.

  • Holeproof (Bonds) Explorers are a pacific brands product, and these socks have lasted me ages - takes years to wear down the sole. background

    2 Pack $24 at Big W

    3 pack $36 at Bonds

    • I have had this for 1.5 years (bought it from Target) and wear it every week for work, still going strong. When I first got it I used one of those Philips fabric shavers to get rid of the fluff after the first wash and since then I have no complaints.
Edit: Hold on, mine were actually from this brand https://www.facebook.com/explorersocksau/ (not from Bonds), I got confused by the identical appearance and name (Explorer)

  • Some of these are made in china and some made in vietnam (I think). Chinese ones don't last for shit. Even the Vietnamese ones don't last as well as they use to. Finding good work socks that last is impossible now

I'm giving Lindner socks a go. Too early to say but at least they're still made here on our shores.

Bah. The Explorers used to be an excellent product. I'm still wearing some that are over 30 years old. Once the manufacturing went overseas the quality plummeted and they are now rubbish. Take a look at productreview for the almost universal negative experiences people have had with the Explorers once they moved offshore and the company was happy to sell junk for higher profit.

    • That's a shame. I still have plenty of them going strong for countless years and would've happily bought more when they run out, but after reading this I might give them a might skip them now.

  • I so want to pull the trigger on these but then I remembered how many pairs I've had to use as oil rags. Not today Explorer!

  • These are life savers
