I would trust the Amazon verified purchase user reviews over unverified comments on OzBargain.

        Like this one?

GaN chargers are supposed to generate less heat, this heats up like a room warmer.

        or this?

The low-quality charger not only failed to perform its intended function but also posed a potential safety hazard with the visible burn marks.

        What about this?

Charger gets hot and makes a loud ticking sound when charger. On top of this, I can feel a buzzing sensation when I run my fingers across my MacBook metal case.

        It goes on an on:

Had one of these “short” out and set off my circuit breaker in front of me. First time I have ever had this happen to me with a usb wall plug

        …and on

On first use I heard a loud bang followed by electrical smoke - I tried a second one and felt it getting hot straight away. Same cables and device on another brand charger work fine

  • I used USB-C port one for 1 year, still good so far..

    • Used mine for 3 months for my new iPhone mini . Travelling soon. Gonna take chance on this deal.

    HEYMIX Universal Travel Adapter $12.5 (2 USB-A) | $13.74 (1 USB-A, 1 USB-C) After Coupon

    how much after FIRE ?

  • where is the coupon???

  • -1

These travel adapters are supposed to be fairly dangerous on there own, without adding Heymix to the equation.

  • +3

A travel adapter is one investment you don't want to cheap out on.

    • What’s a good one. Looking for Vietnam & Japan soon. Is it better with separate types or all on one?

  • +1

Just what I needed for my travel to Antarctica!!

  • -1

I don’t care how much the discount is, HEYMIX should no longer be considered a bargain with the history.

It’s actually disgusting Amazon still allows them on their store.

    • +1

So does Ozbargain. I kind of expect dodgyness from Amazon.

      • -2

Good point. Wonder what legal liability Ozbargain could face if someone’s house burnt down after buying a HEYMIX product that was allowed to be promoted here?

    • -3

The Amazon reviews for this item are quite good 4.5 stars. If buyers lodged complaints with Amazon about dangerous items then it would be in Amazons
interest to get rid of a minor seller giving Amazon a bad reputation. But doing a Heymix reviews search on Amazon shows that the first 24 Heymix items
all have a minimum of 4 star reviews and most of them are over 4.5 stars, that's pretty reasonable feedback.
Clearly Amazon is not getting the same feedback from their verified buyers as what we get from comments on OzBargain.

You keep posting this around, but see my reply to one of your other comments.

The average review means nothing if 1% of them exploded and caused a fire risk. Besides some of the 5-star ratings are things like "First powerboard was faulty. Seller sent a new one to replace it!" (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/customer-reviews/R23E3VL3GXOZV/).

      • Hey! This powerboard has great reviews and a review score of 4.6.

        That overrides reviews like this

I have been using two of these boards for some time, but recently had issues with a couple devices after a power outage. When I tested the board with the plug in socket pictured, I found that they are wired incorrectly. There are other reviews here confirming the same.

        And this

Socket pins and outlet pins are reversed. There was another review from earlier this month saying the same thing. This shouldn't be allowed to be sold still.

and this comment is clearly just a lie.

  • +1

It should come with complementary international home & contents insurance.

  • Can sellers dispute/delete reviews on Amazon? How does heymix manage to have such good ratings if all the ozbargain reviews are accurate?

    • I reckon because a lot of reviews are fake or manipulating people to leave good reviews

I think Taotronics got banned from Amazon for getting a lot of fake reviews before

      https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/17/22538779/amazon-sunvalley…

    • There are some 1 star reviews in Amazon too
To be honest, I personally got 6 Heymix PD adapters and they are all working fine so far (over 3 years)
Maybe their QC are not in good standard but not everyone getting a faulty item
I think reason why ozb reviews are bad, are mainly due to the "risk" of using these products
Most users in Amazon won't know the "risk" until they read other's negative comments, or they face issues on their own

      • +2

There is a risk of the products being faulty. There is also a risk that the product doesn't actually meet the specifications. The biggest risk is the product works fine, but corners have been cut on safety. Heymix fails on all 3.

It is silly to buy Heymix when you can pay a few bucks more for a okay brand.

        • Any recommended few bucks more okay brand for a travel adapter?

          • @littlesoldier: I only have a crappy dangerous one from before I realised the dangers of travel adapters. Not planning to go overseas anytime soon, but if I did I would do some research and avoid Heymix.

    • Amazon sellers can dispute reviews but they cannot delete them.

  • +1

Back on topic. I have found that these types of travel adaptors (any brand) don't always fit the sockets in some hotels due to their size. I prefer to take specific adaptors for the country I'm going to.

    • Thanks for suggestion. Do u prefer brands or just anything?

  • The USB C ones have 110V and 220V labelled on them. Do they switch between 110V and 220V? and what's the output power of the USB? I assume around 15w max in total for this price.

  • Got 2 of the one with USB-C for $17.88. Pretty good price for travel adapters with USBs

    • How did u get 2 for $17.88? I can only buy 1 for $13.

      • Adding 1 of each item came up like that in cart. Not exactly sure why/how

  • This probably won't work with most European sockets, as they are usually inset (I am missing a better word). This means the whole plug needs to fit into the socket, and this one surely won't fit.
