Good if you're purchasing a Mac Mini. Bad if you're purchasing a Retina MBP.

  • $1229 for entry level MBP. Same as educational discount. Great price :)

I bought mine base MBP for $1212 without any discount. Just ask for 10% off.

Not all good guys stock Macs so best to call before going.

  • I'm not sure a month goes by where either JB or Dick Smith do't have a 10% off sale on Apple hardware. Unless you are after the Mac Mini, it's probably going to end up being on par with what other retailers frequently do at best, and possibly worse if you are looking at the 15" Pros and other higher end models.

Still a good deal for getting anything under $1200, unfortunately that doesn't apply to many of the Mac products. I'd be kind of surprised if you couldn't talk dealers down by at least 10% on any day of the week given the regularity that those sales occur.

  • if you can ever get more then 10% off apple computers then its a bargain

  • Just s heads up; the Mac mini is overdue for a refresh.

  • which shops in NSW close to Chatswood has the mac mini

It's funny hpw everything Apple is received so well. Nobody seems to care that, objectively, they are overpriced and the profit margin is huge. To have a fair price and maybe a profit margin of 30% (which is what most businesses can only dream of) the entry level would have to be somewhere around $899.

If people did not buy Apple product for a month or so the prices would come down very quickly (I realise that this is not going to happen - a nice thought though.).

No one said mac users were smart haha.

    • Well theres factors other than cost to consider. I don't think anyone is debating they are the best value systems, but if price was the only factor everyone would drive Holden Barinas. Personally, I didn't find my 13" MBP that expensive for what I got build quality wise, and more importantly I wanted the ability to run OS X.

I wouldn't say Apple buyers don't care about the price, it's just as with most purchases there is more than one factor to consider, and sometimes the price tag is not the primary driving factor.

      • Come on, before it was the coolness and being different factor which now has disappeared as Apple is very mainstream. Now it is all about the hype and having the latest gadget.
Apple marketing has actually managed to destroy a pillar of marketing - instead of designing products to the needs of consumers, they design products first and then somehow manage to make the consumer think he or she wants or needs it.
        Great job.
Anyway, why do you need to run OS X? Unless you make software for Apple what makes OS X so absolutely indispensable (please do not say, convenience, looks great, never freezes etc.) - I mean why is it a matter of life and death?
