Why Don't OzBargain Allow Store Owners to Post Amazon Deals?

Hey Team,

I've been a long fan of OzB and just hoping someone can explain something to me.

I'm run a store on Amazon (Queensland Quintessentials) and I wanted to run a deal for the OzB group. Every now and again I run a deal down to the base cost of the product for a couple of days. I tried to run this sale again, but the OzB site won't let me run the deal as I'm associated with the store? Presumably this is a change from OzB's previous policy; my question is that I'm wondering why, or how this helps? Everything the site does is to protect us as the community, which is fair enough, but can I ask why this particular policy has changed? I don't off an 'at cost' deal anywhere else, and so I fail to see why this would be an unhelpful or spammy offer to the group?

Thanks all,

Matty.

indefinitely ban associated posts for 3rd party sellers on Amazon Australia.

We had seen a decline in the number of associated 3rd party seller deals on Amazon Australia, due to our ban of new overseas sellers, an increase in the feedback requirement to post and our automated performance based bans. However, we have also seen a reduction in quality/vote average of the overall deals, which has lead to this decision.

      I don't

If you have truly good deals I'd ask a mod if an exception can be made. The deals would have to be very good though and in high quantities.

      No exceptions.

      • Well I guess he could set up a store on Shopify, if his stock is all inventoried by Amazon he could order 300 of the product himself, then sell them on the Shopify store and just increase the price of each item by the average of the fees from Shopify and the extra postage he'll pay.

If there good deal in the rep thread, a user will post it.

Wouldn't they risk being accused of being a sock puppet and getting a permaban?

If there good deal in the rep thread, a user will post it.

It's not a honeypot. If OP asked them to post that's a different story.

Maybe it should be more explicitly pointed out that deals posted to that thread that are judged to be exceptional will likely be posted to the main deal section. So there is a clear path to getting your Amazon store deals on the front page, rather than implying it's impossible.

The amount of dropshipper spam that would get posted otherwise…

You're too honest. You should have just posted the deal (not ticked the box) and if it was successful then you could have continued. Now that you've outed yourself - you're stuffed now.

OP already has a long history of posting for their store and sockpuppeting is a negative stain for a company.

idk… seems kind of scammy.. also i don't use nail clippers.

Because ya’ll ruined it by spamming crap. Never ending crap. And then there were the fake prices and fake discounts. And did I mention the crap? Plastic crap every second post. 3000 posts for massage guns and 10,000 posts for essential oil diffusers… it was a nightmare to login to OzBargain and be assaulted by nothing but 40 Amazon rep posts in a row all selling garbage $2 items…

Thanks for all your guys' time in replying and thoughts. I'm a true user of deals on the OzB site anyway, so I'm a fan of it not being bogged down in spam; so that's fair enough.

I'll post my deals on that thread - thanks for the link.

Your last 6 deal posts didn't even front page, and you wonder why the site cracked down…?
