    Good machine.
Got mine for $400 as display model last year and have used it daily since

    • I hope you cleaned the grinder haha, we saw all kinds of things stuck in there….

      • I watched a toddler throw pieces of kitkat in the grinder at jbhifi

        • I saw teenagers flick booger into them at my local. Would never buy a display model of anything that touches my food/drinks directly!

  • Is that all time low?

  • +2

Great price. The bonus deal says that it ended on the 21st of May though

    • Ah shame. Thanks

So sad bought the express just opened this arvo. Otherwise will be good upgrade!

So sad bought the express just opened this arvo. Otherwise will be good upgrade!

You haven’t even used it long enough and you want to upgrade?

      —-
i got express + accessory from marketplace for less than half price and it makes much better coffee than what i’d pay $5-6 in some cbd shops and heaps better than any local shops I ran into…

Couldn’t be more happier with the outcome.

    • I think save the money, buy a better grinder, better tools. The Express is fine for extracting espresso.

    • Nothing wrong with the express. Worth every cent.

First post so please be nice.

Member for 4 years, so no…

    • +1

Hope you employ the same rules with human beings in general

Once they're 4, tolerate no errors

      • -1

        Why do you hope that?

      • Chill, it's a cheeky response to someone who seems not to have read the rules despite being here for years.

How do we know? Because of the magic phrase being the first line of their first post.

        • Sorry! How silly of me! I forgot kindness has limitations in some areas, but not others 🤪

  • Damn…… only the red colour got this price……

  • I have one for 2.5 years, and it works great. Recommended.

  • Great, thanks for sharing the extra 10% off tip. Just bought one :)

  • It is great coffee machine.

My alert for red velvet cake went off… somewhat disappointed

  • +1

Had this for 2 and a bit years now.
With a bit of practice, you can make way better coffee than most baristas 😂

    Pretty consistent as well.
Better to have a dosing funnel and a dosing cup.
    Makes the process less messier.

  • I'm new to world of at-home coffee machines, so please don't shoot me down, but is this the same machine for $599 at Bing Lee: https://www.binglee.com.au/products/barista-express-w-thermo…

    • +1

      Pro vs Express.

    • +1

Pro have thermojet heating, so its ready in 3 seconds, while express takes 20-30 seconds to warm up while you prep your grind

      • Thank you, that’s very good to know.

  • Great price. I struggled all morning deciding to buy or not to buy…

    • +1

Same but red is a no deal with the wife

      • +3

Buy it for yourself then lol

      • Too easy then.

  • How does the end result compare to what you'd buy from a coffee shop?

At home I've had a DeLonghi and a Sunbeam and was grossly disappointed with both.

    • +2

It 100% depends on the setting up, configuration and beans. You can't just turn any of these coffee machines on with expensive beans and make a coffee expecting it to be good. I'm at a point where my coffees taste better than many coffee shops, but not the good ones ;-)

    • +3

You also need a coffee scale/timer to dial it in.

      First youtube I can find
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0g8umpINGQ

Puck prep tools will also help
WDT / distributor / puck screen

        Very informative video. Thanks

      • Thank you!!!!

    • I have a Breville Express Impress - with a little upfront effort and to my surprise I prefer my home made coffees to all but 2 of my favourite cafes.

If anyone has a code to share that would be awesome.

  • Could anyone please share their code if they are not using, it would help me a lot. Thank you.

  • Bought this two years ago through the Good Guys, a great Coffee machine which is giving great results.

Machine is currently being repaired by them, as the milk wand is not working. Desperately missing it!

I was speaking with a barista and he thinks the grind setting is key to getting the right result.

I wouldn't be fussed about the colour, red looks ok!

  • +1

Bambino plus (+ separate grinder) is another great option.
However, at this price the barista pro is excellent (if you don't mind the colour).

    • +1

Thats the combo I'm using. This is tempting but the Bambino plus is still going strong after 3 years.

      • What grinder did U pair it with?
A friend of mine bought the bambino plus recently and still undecided on grinder

  • Got exact same machine from TGG last year, it's treating me well. Not sure if it's the machine or me, but I would say it has the most inconsistency grinder, I could never get the same shot with the same setting/same bean each time. For 17gram of beans, I have extraction time varing from 18 sec to 26 sec to get 34 grams of espresso. The taste as a result also varies from bad - decent -very good, and I suspect the grinder has a lot to do with it.

    • Have had the same with my Barista Express. The grinder is the weakest part of these machines. Tempting to pull the trigger on a Eureka grinder when another deal comes up

      • Just quite a waste to have the inbuild grinder there if they don't get used, but I suppose eventually that's what we need to.

    • Can the grinder be that inconsistent, given you weight your beans and don't change the grind size, which is a mechanical setting?

Perhaps you're not distributing or not tamping consistently? Or using different beans?

      • distribution and tamping tool all upgraded to get a consistent tamp, beans have been the same for a few months. So I can only think it's the grinder that's giving mixed extractions.

        • +1

Fair enough. I wouldn't call BBE consisntent in general, but I've always thought it's a mixture of factors. In my case. A mixture of my own f-ups.

Still, most of the time I get good coffee and nice espressos as long as the beans are decent.

    • I find that my second shot always takes longer to get the same amount of espresso. Heating up the portafilter with running a shot with the old puck helps.

  • +1

Is the coffee really that much better than a POD machine?

    • +1

I moved from Pod to this one, if you like café quality coffee then buy this one.

learn from youtube for how properly froth the milk and properly brew the coffee beans

    • Yes. i was a little like you. Whats the big deal with these coffee machines? so expensive rather just buy from shops etc. But this changes everything

    • Freshly ground beans makes a world of difference over pod

  • Thanks, ordered one. My Barista Express is dying so this was perfect timing. Additionally, having it delivered 40 minutes after ordering is so cool. I didn't know JB did Uber deliveries

    • having it delivered 40 minutes

That's awesome. Did you pay extra for that?

      • +1

Uber was $10.99, next-day delivery with DHL was 9.99 :D

  • Do we need to buy other accessories to make the coffee with best results?

    • +2

Wdt, scale and a good tamper

Optional dosing funnel for less mess

    • +1

It's going to be alright without accessories, you'll get good/acceptable results. Quality, freshly roasted beans do wonders. You always need to adjust every time you get new kind of beans.

Despite what many people say, you can use the included tamper and a toothpick or needle instead of a WDT. And a dosing funnel should be already included with this machine - it used to be sold without one, until Breville realised how useful it is to avoid the mess in the small, 54mm basket. Otherwise it's $15 or so.

A small, precise $10-15 kitchen scales is super useful for the best, consistent results. If you can be bothered weighing your beans each time instead of keeping them in the hopper, like most people do.

  • Shopback sells a $629 gift card which attracts 2.5% cashback - worth just over $15 which offsets the postage

  • does anyone have any issues with mold in the water tank?

    • Thats with every water filter/tank/bottle, You need to clean it with hot water like once a month.

      • what if it doesn't go away anymore lol

        • +1

Lol that never happened with me but if it happens then burn the whole thing 🤣🤣

  • I pondered for several hours and hit the purchase button at 11:30pm. Unfortunately no click and collect for any stores within 3 hours drive. Got a message it wasn't deliverable to my home or work address, so having it sent to a family members home 2 hours away. Postage costs were offset by Shopback cashback on gift cards. Left 9 cents to pay. JB rejected payment with credit card but allowed payment through PayPal. With cashback and postage accounted for I got it for $672.

TLDR … Bought one in the nick of time and used Ozbargain skills. Thanks op.

  • its annoying you can't turn them on on a timer or smart plug, to have the cup warmer warm up in the morning before I wake up.

  • Having trouble dialling in my Aldi beans lol, any tips?
