This flashlight from Wuben that's been popular previously is back on sale. Certainly not a record low price, but good enough for a quality flashlight and easily one of my favourite. I've frequently used this underground due to the high brightness and the length it shines.

It has a P9 LED with 1200 lumens, 6 light modes (high/medium/low/eco/strobe/sos), USB-C recharging, and IP68 water resistance. A 18650 battery is included.

  • What's the colour temp?

    • +4

      I think it was 6500K.

Have lots of torches, don’t need another one, but it looked cool so bought anyway.

    Thanks OP

I don't like this one. The other one that gets posted here feels a lot better in the hand

I'm reasonable d sure that this will produce its claimed 1200lm, but the photo representations are fake as.

    • +1

It says it can maintain the 1200 lumens for 1 minute, then switches to 500 lumens for the next 2.5 hours before the battery dies (on the box)

      • I'm sure that's true. My post is with regards to the photos showing it lighting up a forest. Not gonna happen with 1200lm.

        • If you look carefully it's not really a forest, they're small, maybe even saplings. I have this torch and honestly think the photo could be legit. The only thing I'm a bit suspect of is the wide focus, I havent cycled for a few weeks (I use it on my bike), but I think it's a slightly narrower focus.

My experience with a sample size of 1 is that after about a dozen charges, it no longer charges.

When you plug it in the indicator goes straight to green and stops charging.

It was good when it did work.

Put a new 18650 battery in as the included ones are often questionable. I personally use LiitoKala and you can get Panasonic, LG or Samsung 18650 cells if you prefer something more big brand.

Where is a reputable place to buy these batteries?

        • +20

Tinker Tech AU sell genuine Panasonic/Samsung/Sanyo 18650 batteries. As you'd expect eBay can be full of fakes. Otherwise if you want something quick and don't mind paying more, pop into your local Jaycar for these.

LiitoKala can be found on on AliExpress and I'm using a heap of these for various projects and they're holding up really well. The only gotcha is that they took a couple of months to arrive last time I ordered as they were presumably sent by sea given they're batteries not inside something.

Something else to look out for are any advertising a capacity over 3600mAh. These aren't going to be genuine cells.

          • @Clear: I can highly recommend the ones from Jaycar. I've had 18650 for over 5 years. I use it in my nitecore head torch for work and camping regularly.

I now buy my batteries from liitokala Official Store on AliExpress.
I've bought 18650 26650 and 21700 batteries from them and never had any issues with quality of batteries. I always test each one for Ah capacity
and they always come up at least 90% of advertised. I've owned the 18650 batteries for a few years now and they're still working well.
Some of their batteries include free shipping which is great when you only want to buy one or two batteries.
Shipping is slow, about 6 weeks for delivery, I think they need to send it via sea mail due to the dangers of batteries on planes

    • same experience here.. my battery died

    • I've been using mine pretty heavily for about a year without any battery problems. But it's worth noting that I have 2 18650 batteries (1 being the included one) and I don't charge the torch via usb, I charge the spare battery with a dedicated charger and switch batteries as needed, so maybe the charging tech in the torch is questionable.
Edit: the charger is a nitecore d4

  • Bought, thanks OP. I'm going to have to find a source of reliable 18650 batteries… I already have two others which use them..

Have used one regularly at work for over 18 months no issues.
If anyone has found a good clip in holster lmk

  • How is this compared to the Sofirn SC18?
I find the button location on the Wuben C3 a bit inconvenient.

    • +1

I don't have the SC18 but I prefer my SC31 pro to the Wuben.

I genuinely don't understand my fascination with torches, something to do with growing up on a farm in Tassie? I just purchased this without even readying a single review.

    • Mulder and Scully for me

  • This or Sofirn SP31 Pro?

    • this for the tail light switch

  • Cheers OP. Third torch now. All from here.
Sofirn q8 pro, Sofirn sc21 pro and now this.

  • Received mine today.

Bright but buttons on this are not good. Hard to switch modes by soft pressing the same on/off button, keep that in mind if giving to older people. Also hard to tell which is the brightest after cycling through.
