  • shame cannot get off at LA for even cheaper :(

    • Hi Gristy,

You can extend your stopover in LA to a few weeks and just spend a few days in Paris. it is around $300 cheaper than flying just to Los Angeles

Example of 1 week in LA and 1 week in Paris
      https://fly.iwantthatflight.com.au/flight.ashx?&oc1=SYD&dc1=…

      • Showing as $2400…

      • When I change the search to be for 4 adults, the price changes to $2000+ each? How do I get around that?

        • book individually. also good idea if one passenger has to cancel due to sickness etc, the entire booking need not be cancelled.

      • How can we extend the LA trip ourselves? Need to do multistop?

    • +1

      $69 is nice

      • I Thought it was the French that were lovers

        • Also nice, particularly that one city in the French Riviera

    • +1

shame cannot get off at LA for even cheaper

You can if you want… It's frowned upon but there's nothing stopping you from doing it.

      • Lol relevant username checking out

      • If you do this then you will be buying another ticket to return to AU as they will cancel the rest of the ticket if you skip your LAX-CDG sector.

        • they will cancel the rest of the ticket

Depends on how good you are at playing the game.

        • Yeah, you are only no show on the 2nd leg. I've done this with a rtw ticket and didn't affect the next flight. Unsure if different rules. Regardless, risk is there.

  • Damn if only this was later in 2024, I could’ve made it my honeymoon trip

    • Check premium economy flights with Vietnam Airlines.

    • get married earlier

Great price for a week in two very different but very cool cities.

you'll need that stop though - two 10+ hour legs. Ouch

    • +1

16 hours to LA my friend!

    • Both cities are far from being cool.

      • +1

DTLA is a disgrace. Never going back. Santa Barbara/Diego ok. Homelessness has skyrocketed since I visited in 2019. Sad state of affairs.

  • That 14/Oct > 29/Oct would be good for rugby world cup

  • Any good options for New York or Washington DC (east coast) ?
    Thanks

  • +1

Perfect for the Rugby World Cup business end.

  • Yikes, 13 hours SYD-LAX, 10.5 hours LAX-CDG.

    • +1

…with two of the most horrific airports ever to look forward to too

      • +2

but whats the alternative? - next cheapest to Paris is $3k!

        • Good point, and you’re going through CDG regardless if you’re flying a decent airline to Paris.

    • +3

      Isn't 13 hours syd-lax pretty standard?

      • i think they mean 13+10.5 is a long trip

      • I think they are indicating it is a two very long back-to-back flights, rather than that it is longer than normal.

    • +3

Not too bad. Only a few hours more than going via middle east.

  • +2

Recent trip to Iran. No more ESTA for me. Interview wait time for a B1/B2 visa….5mths in Syd/Mel. Bugger.

    • Excellent point, need to double check mine

    • what? do I have to wait 5 months for a visa?

      • no you have to wait five months for an interview, then maybe wait some more for the visa

      • You don't need a US visa if you're eligible for ESTA.
Apply only on the official site: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/

    • The interviews are being waived. Give them a call to confirm

      • Cheers. Is that for first time B1/B2 , or only renewals? If you know.

        • +1

They have outsourced the visa process to us travel docs.
I think I might have given you false hope as I found the following…

  • This is perfect timing for me to travel to EU, saved me maybe $500
but now looking at travel insurance, the stopover at LA adds an extra $200-300 :( I need a card with complementary cover…

    • +2

ozb fav citi premier card has travel cover

      • yes I used to have the no lifetime fee one, but gave it up when I went for a home loan for more borrowing potential :( much sadness, but a bit of shopping around and I think I've found some more affordable travel insurance. Not my preferred brands but Ozb opinion on them seem ok.

    • +2

Get yourself a CBA low fee gold credit card. It has unconditional travel insurance, no need to pay for the trip through it.

    • +1

Depends on how long you stopover.

      Check each policy.

      • you guys are amazing :)

Emirates.com and use the search box

        • -1

if you only fly emirates you need a deal

          • -6

@ChatCPT: yes a full price of everything with the flights and the accomm etc. Package deal. hence why I asked. Not just flights.

    • Boring. I've flown Philippine Airlines and Qatar to/from Europe and while, yes, there was plenty of opulence on display in Hamad Airport, I found PAL a much more interesting experience (+the most efficient transit ever). Was great to see for myself how far they'd come.

  • Any option of the outbound and inbound tkt including an additional mel-syd leg?

  • Good to see old prices coming back, this is in the off-season so I've seen these prices before.

I'd take the stop over in LA and go spend some time in California for a few days (e.g. Joshua Tree) and then head to Paris

    • I will neg again not directed at you only directed at Parisians

OP are there many seats available or very limited?
I need to check travel dates with my party this weekend

    Looking at 10-25 Sep

Alternatively if I book myself now and they book later can you seat us together?

  • Is it possible to have a stopover in LA twice, ie in both directions?
It would be too much to do Paris to Syd in one go.

Also interested in a Melb departure or connecting flights to Syd

  • +1

How do we add the stop over?

  • +1

If you add extra days in LA stopover
Do you need to take off the checked luggage?
Do you need multiple ESTA for US?
    Are there any other risks?

  • are these flights legit?

theyre from a website called Cheapoflyt. LOL

and when I plug in this same flight into Virgin Atlantic's website - it says
We’re sorry, but we do not fly this route on the selected day. Some of our flights operate seasonally or on select days of the week. Please try again by selecting a different date.#101672R

    • +2

      Hi ChatGPT,

Yes, these flights are legit. If you check the Delta website you can see that Delta flies on these dates & times (the flights are marketed as Virgin Atlantic, but operated by Delta).

If you are concerned about Cheapoflyt you can book with Aunt Betty or BYOJet (owned by Flight Centre) for $1094.

      • amazing response. thank you rep

  • Does anyone know if you can choose your seat under this fare? (perhaps someone who has purchased this deal?). I went through Expedia and initially it said seat selection was available through the airline however, at checkout it said the airline would allocate the seats before the flight.
I read that Delta have an economy basic fare which doesnt include seat selection so I am wondering is this fare is for ecomony basic only?
Not choosing the seats for me and the family is a deal breaker. I just cant be sure whether we can select seats on this fare so any advice would be appreciated.

    • Hey, I can confirm you can book the seats on the Virgin Atlantic Manage booking section after you receive the booking confirmation from Expedia. I did the same.

  • Is this still valid?
