  • Cheers. Got a few

    • Multiple Kogan accounts? Multiple mobile numbers?

      • 2 watches, 1 spare phone

        • +3

Just buy one at the time same account and no charge.

    Call to cancel anytime

Don't forget you can't cancel online anymore with Ruslan's Telco

    • Can you sign up with a disposable credit card? So won't auto-recharge.

    • Yes, it doesn't welcome disposable numbers.

It is great to port in/out with the profitable Boost Mobile SIM.

      • +2

A disposable revolut card worked just fine.

      • +1

tried activating with UP Bank & UBank trying both digital and physical cards then greeted by

We are unable to process your request. Please choose another credit card or try again later.

        my CBA CC says

We are unable to process your payment. Unfortunately, your financial provider has declined your payment. Please try another card or choose a different payment method.

it tries to load the netcode verification page then just disappears, CBA is down for maintenance maybe will work later

        • If you have no intention to pay recharge later, just use a debit card with small balance on it.

          • @Neoika: tried 6 different credit/debit card accounts none of them work for me, works fine for everything else

all my other cards are unable to process my request and ask to try a different card

both CBA Awards Credit Card and CBD Step Pay say my payment has been declined

i have CBA smart access but they randomly stopped sending me the debit card which no longer shows in the app

all accounts have over $25 available

only account i haven't tried is my virgin money debit card, which i keep with a few dollars specifically for deals like this but no idea where my card is, no body else seems to be reporting problems what a mystery

unless im on some blacklist for regular sim slutting with them back in 2018 no idea why nothing is working

            For help, call us on 1300 056 426 (13 000 KOGAN)

error message includes that with all my non CBA cards, hate not being able to sequence verbal communication with no text based chat support

full name on credit card is different in app and on card, tried both
made sure to disable international transaction blocks, just in case
tried a different sim pack, maybe should try a different IP someone in my family couldn't access binge because it's apparently a VPN, making a few dollars off those bandwidth sharing apps maybe not worth it

            • @mantra: finally works with CBA Awards CC, netcode verification panel wasn't working

          • @Neoika: Might result in a dishonour fee with bank?

            • @Tleyx: I don't think it should apply to a debit card purchase with any banks. It only occurs with declined direct debit.

        • had a problem when tried activate second sim, this time netcode verification was working
tried combination different sim card, voucher number and my step pay account eventually managed to get it working
no idea what actually helped though

    • do you need to speak to a person or is it an IVR?

      • +2

Person. If you don't want to do that you can always port out to another service to avoid the human contact.

  • +1

just activated amaysim 12 month plan, would have waited few weeks using this :(

    • -1

Blessing in disguise. With Kogan (Vodafone) network, you might have as well ported out of it the next day :D

      • It all depends on your location. For example Boost/Telstra is unusable at my place (Melbourne). It also never works at the gym that I go to. To top it all off, yesterday I was getting a haircut and yet again noticed just '1 bar' at my hairdresser's. Meanwhile Vodafone works beautifully at home and at the gym. No issues whatsoever.

  • +1

No international call included. still a great price

  • If I have heaps of Kogan Sim cards, would the $0 esim details work on one of the starter Sims?

    • +4

Yes, sign up sign sim and then add voucher.

    • +1

eSIM info and voucher come to you separately, and are not linked.

    • +1

I just used a physical SIM bought in Aug 2020 and it worked with the voucher. The new batch made in that time still lasts.

      • Me too. I still have many sim cards. Just bought a free esim to get a voucher.

        • The next step for me is to port to Boost Mobile on 3 July, just before the 4 July on which Boost may remove bonus data for old packs.

      • Thanks for that!

  • Can we port a number with this?

esim comes with preallocated number, no mention of porting as an option…

    • It does say BYO number and device so you should be able to.

      • +1

Yeah but the QR takes you straight to activation, just prompts for confirmation code.

No option at any stage to choose an existing number

        • +1

You need to follow the sign up process online and wait until the port is successful before using the QR

          • @0jay: For anyone else wondering, I managed to port my number after using the QR code by going through the activation link.

        • Can I ask where do you find the QR code? In the email I received there was only a voucher code and I am having trouble activating the esim with only that code.

          • +1

@szy2k: You should get two emails, one with the QR and an activation code (4 or 5 characters from mem) plus another email with your voucher code.

The QR email only comes if you selected esim when you signed up on the Kogan site

            • @0jay: Thank you. Definitely something wrong with my order, only received an order confirmation email and a voucher code email, no email contains QR or activation code, will contact them and find out why.

              • +1

@szy2k: You could also just throw another order through and hope for the best.

There’s no penalty and it’ll be quicker and less stressy than waiting to speak to a Kogan rep.

It’s not like there’s any waste of tangible resources as there would be for a physical sim.

    • +2

      https://accounts.koganmobile.com.au/activation

go here, use number supplied on eSIM for "Starter pack service number" and then follow the bouncing ball

      • +1

Thanks, got eSIM after seeing your comment :)

        • +1

No worries, I activated one this morning to try - It was surprisingly easy! :)

  • Do I need to call to cancel auto renew or cancel the account.

    • +1

Yes, or start a disposable number at Kogan for 30 days, after which port to a Boost SIM for another 28 days' use and then leave it expired at ease.

      • Noice , next level inception
Get a few free coffees, a few free lunches, some $5 and $10 vouchers and run

        • I am talking about How to take the offer without contacting customer service or recharge, freeloading all the way. Perks are optional. Leave it expired at Kogan is not recommended even if you use a disposable card there. You may have trouble in joining Kogan again as you have not paid previous postpaid service bills.

          • -1

@Neoika: They are not postpaid but prepaid. So I don’t know if you can get in trouble. But not worth risking tbh.

            • @fozzie: I didn't neg, but the new plans are operated like postpaid, similar to Belong.

              • @Neoika: Add to avoid misunderstanding: Port out as prepaid service.

      • I can see an issue here if you're already with boost.

You can't port back to boost within 30 days, which means you'd have to wait 31 days and at that point you'd be auto charged by kogan, no?

        • Boost doesn't have the 30 days issue as I know. 30 days issue only exists at Kogan Mobile when use a new customer voucher.

          • @Neoika: I've experienced the 30 day block on porting back into Boost.

      • Is the porting process starting immediately or it needs 1-2 days to take affect

        • +1

immediately during the daytime. Some Telcos process it on Sunday as well.

  • +1

Works fine for me. Great offer!

  • great for boost porting in and out

  • hmm $2 for sim postage though…

If it was $1 matching lyca would have definitely considered it (lyca is 1 year expiry too from date of purchase) But ofcourse seems like lyca false advertising the $1/$3 for first 3 months each, instead its only the first month (aka activation) But still $1 cheaper

    • If you have a blank physical SIM bought with other plans from early 2020 onwards, it'll work. I think Kogan Mobile phased out all the old packs before that time.

      • sadly dont have a single spare one

    • Wait lyca is not 3 months?

      • +2

try getting 3 months from lyca at discounted $1 per month for 3 months. So far I have not heard anyone here who successfully managed to score that $1 price for 3 months
I personally have only been riddled by their Customer service making excuses about some auto renewals etc. BS.

That is still a good deal for $1 per month, BUT I JUST ABSOULTELY HATE THEM FALSE ADVERTISING.

  • +1

Thank god, I still have 30+ kogan sims, was going to trash if they didn't repeat the $0 deal again

    • You can use the eSims the provide.

    • I still have 30+ kogan sims

They'll expire, eventually. Officially they're good for "365 days after purchase". In practice, maybe a couple of years, on average. I've had a few expire over the years. You can see if a given starter pack is still valid or not by starting the activation process, but not proceeding past the second page. If you don't get that far even, it's a bin job.

      • Coz all Vodafone related SIMs have been pre-assigned a random number. When Vodafone needs to re-assign them after a few years(a variable factor), it has to disable old SIMs. The other Telcos have a different approach.

      • SIMs that have a "1" after the "0000" in the SIM card number can no longer be activated - I've got some of these from years ago lol

  • How long does the line stay active eventhough I cancel the auto recharge straight away and do not recharge in the future? cheers

    • +1

Officially, you can still receive calls and text messages for a further 20 days. You may get a day or two more; I got 21 days on one and 25 on another. See https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/216814378-…

Have you actually cancelled the auto-recharge yet? Reports in a previous, similar deal suggest that some people weren't given the option to cancel the auto-recharge when they called Kogan Support, only the service itself. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/749773

      • Thanks for your insight. I haven't cancelled yet but used a disposable Revolut card anyway so if they refuse I'm not too worried.
Would have hoped the service holds on longer like Aldi $5 sims last a good year without recharging

        • Aldi $5 sims last a good year without recharging

          Seriously?

A year of incoming for $5?

          • @0jay: yes usually 365 days from my experience, same for a few $2 Telstra SIM cards I have activated. Aldi and Telstra are the only providers I found selling those cheap prepaid sim cards where you dont need to top up extra to activate the service. All the others ive tried, you pay the sim card in store and then while activating it they ask you to top up extra

  • Still available, maybe not soon.

  • +1

    Bugger! Forgot to buy some.
