  • Max input 22.5W, max output 15W.

I knew that wireless charging is not efficient, and magsafe is trying to improve it by better device alignment thanks to the magnets.

But is the efficiency for real as shit as mere 66%?

its lost as heat directly into the phone (which is also bad for your battery longevity)

i use a 5W plug-in charge overnight, a 15W plug in when i want quick juice before out the door.

i have a mag safe one for in the car only to cut down on the hassle of plugging in for long trips using GPS.

      • Yeah, I was pointing out that the efficency is much, much worse than I thought. There's no charging method to make it close enough to 100%.

Clever idea with the 5W charger overnight. I do that too and I wish there was a handy switch in the OS to slow down the charging.

At least there's the "optimised charging" these days and the last 20% (that is: charging past 80%) can be slowed down to take a few hours, so well below even 5W. Your phone shows that it's going to be charged by eg. 4:30am, depending on your usage patterns, I believe. Not sure if in Android phones do that too.

yeah the optimised charging is good but you're still causing a lot of heat in the phone by using the fast charging functionality.

my 12s battery lasted a lot longer before hitting 85% capacity just using the 5w charger when needed vs my X which i was using on 12w chargers all the time.
