$69.420 would have been the ultimate.

  • Somebody should tell PlayStation that it was meant to start today. Still nothing on the store.

    • I think it runs on international time. So we probably have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up to today

      • It specifically says "Days of Play 2023 will begin on June 2 at 12:01 AM until June 12 at 11:59 PM local time in each region."

Local time in each region. So most people would expect that to mean 12:01AM in Australia, for Australians.

        • Had to go through the playstation.com website to find it (as it's not listed on the store) but it is live: https://store.playstation.com/en-au/pages/DaysofPlay

        • -1

Im not even sure if Australia has its own region for PSN? Seems like we just use the European markets. Especially if you look at the terms and licensing for the games.

69! Where everyone is a winner

  • Niiiice

  • Can this be used with pc?

    • +3

DS4Windows is your one tru friend in this regard. 👍

    • Works great with COD MW2 natively and also has the force feedback for the trigger buttons

    • Yes, some games will work natively via Steam others kind of want DS4Windows as sometimes the button mapping will be off ie. PS4 square should equal a xbox X but it doesn't it will map the Square to a Y for example.
Which can also create the other drama that some games just read controllers purely as XBOX so the onscreen buttons will not be correct.

Microsoft & Sony still cant really broker a deal to make the PS Controller work as seamlessly as a xbox controller.

    • +1

Both XBOX and PS5 controllers are excellent. I have both so let me tell you what I feel.

The XBOX controller has amusing adhesiveness for grip.

Effortless Connection to your ipad/phone/pc and desktop. Can connect to your phone directly with built in socket.

But, need to buy a separate battery pack, no built in speaker, no touchpad.

The PS5 Controller has an ok grip.
But, it has built in speaker, touchpad and you can turn on and off microphone from the button on the controller.

Both have some pros and cons. I suggest you to buy both as the prices are going down and both are available in the rang of 60-70$ as of now.

You can use Xbox one for travelling (I use mine for playing Ipad games, asphalt 9 is awesome with XBOX controller on ipad) just buy a battery pack with USBC and ps5 for the in house use.

$2 cheaper via the Gamesmen website ;)
        No free delivery tho :(

PS5 controllers are so crap. I have lost functionality in all 3 controllers i have bought so far.

    • +1

ngl my ps5 controller with barely any hours has horrenous stick drift, i should have returned it but i just thought it was my PC causing it till i plugged a PS4 in and instantly it was perfect.

    • Not sure why you’re getting negged - I’ve had to exchange all 3 I’ve owned under warranty. 2 were for stick drift so severe it made them unusable, and one was for a faulty headphone jack. Now one of the replacement ones is developing an issue with the headphone jack, so it’s gonna have to go back too.

When I compare my DualSense experiences with my seemingly-bulletproof PS4 DualShock controllers (I own 3 of them that are 5+ years old, with hundreds of hours of gaming on them and zero problems), I can see why you feel the way you do.

  • Does it work with a fire tv stick? I was just about to buy an Xbox Series X/S Wireless Controller. Any opinion on which would be better as Both seem cheaper than an 8bitdo pro 2

  • How much are they usually

  • +1

Just be aware that the original and second batch of PS5 controllers are all prone to stick drift.

Had to replace my OG one that came with the box after about 10 months.

Got a purple one last year and also had to get it replaced at JB last week.

    YMMV

    • How simple was the process at JB? Do they just give you a brand new one on the spot?

    • I had to replace my galactic purple one as well for stick drifts. Now the replacement purple one won’t hold a charge/only works when plugged in. JB replacement was a pain as there was no galactic purple in stock and they wouldn’t replace with a different colour

    • I’ve had two that I got at launch and never had an issue with either of them.

      My switch controllers though….

  • +1

I almost pulled the trigger on the white one on sale last week and decided to hold out for colour. Success!!!!

  • Copped. Thanks OP!

  • Surprised as EBgames does not have any sale running online, only in store.

    • Will be online from next week. They let store starting 1 week earlier.

  • +1

Just an fyi, if you are wanting to get the "latest" build of controller made by Sony get 1 of the colored Purple/Blue/Pink.
With the others there really is no gurantee if you may just be getting old Gen 1 or Gen 2 stock..

    • What about black?

      • +2

Black is not Purple/Blue/Pink and therefore no guarantee it is either 1,2 or 3.
People generally have found the latest controller colors are all 030.. Whilst the others really could just be older stock, Once again even that isnt 100% solid information as people also found the latest to be 020 but its a much rare cases and i dont think i have ever heard of somebody getting an 010 in a newer color.

From my understanding it is purely the FCC ID number that deciphers what model which you can only find on the controller itself.
BDM-010 - FCC ID End with the Number 1
BDM-020 - FCC ID End with the Letter A
BDM-030 - You pull the R2 trigger down and see a spring.

If your worried just do some google/reddit search and you will see a heap of articles on the different controllers, Its the 010 controllers that generally face the most amount of issues ie. stick drift

        • +1

The purple one I got in June 2022 is Gen 2 and it still had stick drift problems.

          • +4

@zzzman: Camo grey got released late last year so should be gen 3 i would imagine.

            • @Aqx666: Agreed Camo gray was the last released color so I hope its gen 3

          • @zzzman: Had the same issue

        • +1

don't think the stick drift can be fixed
unless the change the module in the stick.

only thing that changes is springs for the trigger and the PCB

this is also useful to identify the generation of the controller

          https://preview.redd.it/7cp2c771o0k91.jpg?width=1800&format=…

        • if they have been selling/bundling the white one with the consoles, surely any new whites would be gen 3 by now

hope someone can confirm this with the white and black one is gen 3

        • Just picked up a Camo DualSense from JBHIFI and it is indeed a BDM-030.

Edit: removed reddit link as pinkybrain already linked to the same post

          • -1

@MM93: would have been good if you had checked the white and black one
for people who want those colours and want the BDM-030.

            • +1

@pinkybrain: They are all security locked on display, wasn't feasible to check each one if I wasn't purchasing it. I opened the box and looked for the model identity only once I'd left the store. Was simply trying to provide insight about the camo model incase that helped anyone.

              • @MM93: yeah no worries..
is the BDM-030 printed on the back of the boxes that we can check or we need to open it and look at the controller?
can you look at your own box to see if it is printed anywhere?

would be good if someone who decided to buy the white or black one can give some info what model it is.

the colours are all right, but not it's not for everyone..
some people prefer just to get the classic colours white and black.

                • @pinkybrain: Bottom of the box says: CFI-ZCT1W. Whilst the back of the controller says: AK8CFIZCT1A. Given first model ends in CT1, 2nd CT1A & 3rd CT1A plus has exposed spring, the box doesn’t appear to provide any insight.

                  • +2

@MM93: I picked up a black in store yesterday and its a 030, has the exposed spring.

                    • @JPNx: good to know..
hope this is also the case for the white one..
and indicated that all controllers are now third gen

                      if someone got the white
please reply here with the model number

                      • +1

@pinkybrain: Hey @pinkybrain happy to confirm that my controller from this deal (C&C from JB Hi-Fi in WA) is a white 3rd gen controller with exposed spring (looks exactly the same as the BDM-030 controller in the pic you posted above). FCC ID: AK8CFIZCT1A (box says CFI-ZCT1W). I imagine the only way to confirm is to check for the exposed spring, which unfortunately means you have to open the box. Buying via Amazon could be good insurance for hassle-free returns if you get unlucky. Beyond that, taking the whole controller apart just to read BDM-030 on the main board (wouldn't suggest this!).

From my experience of 2 broken controllers so far (and I barely used them!), I would strongly suggest getting a 3rd gen controller and avoiding 1st and 2nd gen - they're bound to break on you eventually. A controller should last for many years, especially if it is only lightly used, with care.

I called Sony PlayStation to see what they could do about my controllers and the service rep literally told me to go buy a new controller, they can't help me. Pretty poor effort by Sony this time. And that's coming from a long-time, loyal customer.

                        • @JimmyLmao: thanks for the info.
most likely most of the controllers are now third gen.

So both controllers got stick drift or what issue?
Don't think third gen controller is guaranteed the stick drift problem is fixed.
From what I read it might still be using the same module.

I think the main improvement might be thicker spring for the triggers and not sure what else except the mainboard is modified.

                          That is poor customer service..
But despite this you still want to buy from them again?
Nintendo has to fix their controllers for free due to class action lawsuit

        • do you need to buy from coles store or coles online?
and do you just get the $50 card and pay $45?

          • @pinkybrain: Instore only I believe, and yes.. 10% discount, max 5 cards per transaction

  • Why these and not a pair of those at AliEx for less than half price?
(Honest question; I'm not a gamer — just want something cheap and cheery to play with the kiddo)

    • mainly cos people think sony controllers are well design and has really good features and good quality…
go read up on the tech in sony dual sense controllers

it's like asking what is difference between cheapo $100 phone and $600 phone.
if you don't care about that then get the cheapo controllers.
