Seems to only ever be the single Zigbee light switches on sale. I'd buy a bunch if the 2/3/4 were on sale as well

Yeah I hear you. You may take a look at Mercator Ikuu ranges as well not that they are cheap, but at least there's a brand name behind it rather than buying no brand ones.
On another note, I suggest add one or more gang(s) to what you have to have fun with the buttons in detached mode to turn on/off other smart devices.

    • Send us an email with which device you would like and we can do you a package discount.

  • Is it advisable to get an electrician to install these?

    • +4

that would be the legal way.

  • I'm kind of new to this whole home automation stuff (I'm playing around with Home Assistant). I'm looking to get something to monitor my household electricity use. I do have a smart meter (EDMI Atlas Mk10D) and I also have 3 phase power. Is there something I could get to monitor electricity use at the meter, and plug that data into Home Assistant?

I don't know about your meter's capability, but "Shelly 3EM" with three current transformers (included I guess) is one way to do that.

i've got a powerpal with a hub which feeds the data to home assistant

      • how's the battery life on your phone having to have the app feed the home assistant plugin?

        • Can't speak for the HomeAssistant component route but I've gone with an ESPHome device with an external component written by WeekendWarrier1 to feed data into my HomeAssistant setup. My phone is completely disconnected from the PowerPal and none of the data is uploaded to the PowerPal website (by choice)

Is there an explanation somewhere of which Shelly for each use case? All I can see online is stuff from America and I have no idea if it would apply here or if there are differences in house wiring standards.

    • In Australia to add shelly to a light switch, the first question is do you have a neutral wire at the switch, does the switch have enough space behind it to fit one of the shelly devices and then if you want power monitoring or not.

Depending on the answers to those questions is which shelly device you would use? Often only one device will be suitable that is why they have such a big range of devices.

  • Any deals on the shelly 1? I am after 4 Shelly 1's and a Shelly 2.5.

  • The deal on Shelly 2.5 is still on until they sell out or EOFY.
    https://www.ozsmartthings.com.au/products/buy-10-shelly-2-5-…

There will be no deals on the shelly 1 as they are end of line and stock is very limited. We cannot get more stock of Shelly 1, 1pm or 2.5. The Plus and Pro series have replaced them.

    • Ah got it. What about the Shelly 1+. Any deals you can do on that?

      • Not at the moment.
