Ryobi 1400W 1450PSI Pressure Washer $69 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-store) @ Bunnings

1760

Seems like a great deal. This used to sell for $130 and gradually the price was dropping. Most probably a reduced to clear/ discontinued item.

Features
✓1400W motor delivers a maximum 1450PSI
✓Quick-connect fittings
✓Replacement O-rings included
✓5m pressure hose
✓trigger gun, variable pressure lance, turbo lance, straight brush, soap bottle
The RACPWS1 RYOBI 1400W 1450PSI Pressure Washer is a versatile cleaning tool for vehicles.

Blast away dirt from off-road motorcycles, 4WDs and cars. It’s also an effective tool for rinsing saltwater off your water vehicles, including fishing boats and kayaks.

Quick connect fittings make it simple to attach your hose. Attach the variable pressure lance to adjust spraying width and pressure or switch to the turbo lance for jobs that require max pressure. Use the straight brush for any cleaning jobs that require scrubbing. Attach the soap bottle whenever you need to apply a cleaning solution to surfaces.

When you’re done cleaning, use the on-tool hose storage and cable hook to pack this unit away neatly.

  • Good for a push bike etc ?

    • +13

Definitely not. You'll strip all the grease out of your bearings with something like this easily. Use a cloth if you can, and just a regular garden hose away from your bottom bracket and hubs otherwise.

      • +4

It would be fine. Just back off from those areas a bit.

        • +2

Depends on the bike. But it can cost $50 to get your bearings repacked so I wouldn’t recommend it.

          • @JSONBourne: Whoa.. I had no idea that it could cost that much… I must've saved heaps over the years!

            • +1

@tebbybabes: Yep it can get up there, moreso if a hub is involved and needs replacing. I say this as it happened to me when I was over eager.

        • +5

nah….its the last thing you need to clean a bicycle. great way to stuff the bb, hubs, brakes, headset, pedal bearings, shifters and gear lines….nothing will benefit from a pressure clean

    • +2

no…why would you need to pressure wash a bicycle?

    • +2

Everyone is so terrified of pressure washers near a bike, but any online journalist who's actually done it has shown that unless you aim the lance directly into the bb or something stupid it's absolutely fine. I'm thinking of getting one for my mtb. Ignore the rest of these commenters driven by fear of the unknown

      • This. Good for a mtb after a muddy day.

    not enough psi

    • +4

Depends what do you need it for?

      • +2

        NOT enough psi

I have 2000psi and still struggle to clean some things

        • Is 2000psi enough to effectively clean roof titles?

          • +4

@Wally: NO!! You will be on the roof all day and your water bill will also reflect that lol

          • @Wally: Doubt it. I just got a quote from a professional company for rooftile cleaning and they state they used 5000-6000psi

      • my espresso machine uses around 130 PSI

        • +5

Nice you can use it to clean your patio.

    • Still enough to blow a hole in you finger, so I found out the hard way!!

      • +5

So you have a hole in your finger? Amazing!

        • +2

A blow hole in their finger

        • He must have a golfing finger

      • Every holes a goal.

  • +3

Just purchased a few weeks back, can recommend, very effective cleaning up decking prior to painting also used to clean concrete driveway. Is quite addictive once you see the filth blasted away!

    • +5

Wait till you try a petrol 4000+ psi.
      Then we can talk 😏

      • +2

What do you need so much PSI for? I found my ryobi pressure washer to be good for cleaning cars, pavers etc.

        • +2

Quicker, use less water (time wise) and does a better job in general.

Also can use it to unblock drains (cheaper than getting plumber for $300+) , clean roof tiles , etc. Electric ones dont have enough power for these tasks

I always recommend to people spend the extra $$ and go petrol.

          • +5

@easternculture: It depends on what kind of jobs would someone expect the product to do. The price also reflects that.

            • -7

@Scrooge McDeal: If you have a house , then petrol is essential.
If you live in a unit, then anything will do, although you can ask the landlord to clean pavers

              • +2

@easternculture: How much is a good deal on a petrol one? I never used one to be honest. I don't doubt that the petrol one with bigger PSI would be better. But it depends on everyones budget. As you see I am a real Scrooge 😃

                • +2

@Scrooge McDeal: Worst case scenario, you can hire one for a day or 2 to do those hard cleaning jobs.

Its worth it because less time, less frustrating , less water, ets. It all adds up.

Petrol your looking at $150 to $200 second hand on marketplace, or about $500 new for a semi decent one.

And they are easy to service

              • +1

@easternculture: I've had an electric Gerni for about ten years, never come across something it can't do. Do colorbond roof and weatherboard house twice a year, roof tiles, cars, used it to degrease the driveway, blast back wooden patio furniture before a recoat no problems with any of it.

For most people house or not an electric will do fine.

                • @ZuluOz: question: is it really necessary to clean the roof annually and the weathboards too?

                  • @furythree: I do it, otherwise I get lichen growing and the weatherboard darken

          • @easternculture: What is the distance on unlocking drains? My block is usually 2 meters down and then around a right angle corner and 5 meters along. Could it get enough pressure down there?

        • +4

What do you need so much PSI for?

For basic home use, you don't - a basic electric unit like this is just fine for normal home use. It'll clean your car, your deck, your driveway, no issues.

You'd have to really really need the extra grunt to put up with all the ballache that comes with petrol tools, they're awful to use in every single way except for raw power, I wouldn't go back to petrol in a million years now that we've shifted to battery/electric.

        • +1

What do you need so much PSI for? I found my ryobi pressure washer to be good for cleaning cars, pavers etc.

Indeed. For job around the house an electric one will do.

Your not trying to do waterjet cutting you dont need 4000 PSI for home use. At that number it's insanely dangerous especially at close distance. You have a 1 meter range weapon that can blast off body parts. Also the amount of water it can move per minute also determines the cleaning power.

          • @skillet: Your average punter with a 4000 PSI Pressure washer is going to strip the paint right off the car the first time they give it a go.

        • Thanks for the feedback, just bought one, hope all goes well. Cheers

          • @Bluering48: Bought mine online, I am going to cancel it. Now when I think, I don't have a powerpoint outside, it will be a pain to have a long power cord going through an opened door during all the car wash time. Will have to chase a cordless one.

      • +29

Just a word of warning that pressure washers >= 3000psi require a lot of respect and the wearing of significant PPE. 3000psi can debride skin and muscle from the bone. You want to be wearing thick leather work boots, thick safety pants, jacket, gloves and eye protection.

Don't underestimate the danger of high-pressure water.

In many ways, lower PSI washers are more suited to regular home use.

        • +1

          You got it!!

            What is safety?

Which part of the east is safety first frowned upon?
            Please do tell.

If you are not alive and well, how will you actually do the job?

        • nothing is waterproof with enough pressure or time.

      • can u lower the PSI ?

      • I would love to

If you could send me the money for it in the next few days, I'll report back with the results. Thanks man, you're so generous

My exp with Roybi is that they are not good. Had 3 and all returned and the last one was a refund.
On the plus side, Bunnings warranty support is good (5 years via Roybi) so for that price, may be worth giving it a go. It was good whilst it lasted.

    • Does ryobi really have 5 years replacement warranty? Cant find anything from the oage

      • I dient habe the exact same model. Mine did

    • I abuse mine and it works fine. I have no idea how people burn through multiples. Unless they didn't put it together correctly or literally throw the thing around

      • Nope - took care of it. Just unlucky I guess. I think the gun component was the weak leak on my last one

        • +1

Very unlucky to happen three times

    • +2

      Different model.

  • +3

these are the most customer returned pressure washer according to bunnings staff….
    just buy a gerni/karcher

    • For five times the price?

    • +1

      Most returned because most purchased?
A more useful stat is the return rate.

  • +2

Saw this in store today, but ended up purchasing an ozito. My last ozito I purchased 8 years ago just died and I bought it for $49 back then

    • +3

      Username does not check out

    • The Ozito's use a smaller pressure hose fitting to Ryobi don't they? I've been looking for a longer hose as the 5m hose is too short.

      • This Ryobi also has 5m hose. Some pressure washers have extension hoses that you can buy separately.

        • Did you keep your previous Ozito hose to use on your new washer?

        • Search on Ali, plenty of high pressure hose just need the right adapter and fitting. I add lots of quick connectors makes life very easy for people who like to remove their hose frequently.

  • Does anyone know if the "soap" attachment is the same as a "foam" sprayer?

I intend to use this to wash my SUV

    • +1

I have one of this. You add the soap or the cleaning solution in the container. You can adjust how thick you want the solution to be spayed. I don't know if that answers your question. So the soap it's mixed with water and you can adjust how much soapy you want it.

    • Short answer is no.
Buy a proper snow foam attachment like a mjjc foam cannon pro v2 or a copy off AliExpress (ensure the attachment matches up with the pressure you are using, or has at least quick release etc).

With a proper snow foam attachment you use significantly less car wash product and produce proper thick foam.

  • Would it wash away bird dropping? Also, what about car wash?

    • Perfect for both.

The only thing the won't do (IMHO) is this…

Blast away dirt from off-road motorcycles

Caked on mud on motocross bikes requires a much bigger unit (preferably petrol) to even have a chance at cleaning.

  • Would it clean pavers?

    • i would like to know as well

    • +1

It will clean pavers but it will take forever and the user experience will be horrible.

      • Definitely a pass then

      • experience would be horrible

what about against my sons hand cranked water pistol in a watergun fight

  • Almost 50% off the original price?

  • Nice

  • +1

My AR blue from master still going on.

    • Their warranty portal has stopped existing

    • Their o ring is all funny sizes not easy to source.

  • anyone seen any adapaters you can get to fit karcher accessories to the ryobi? I have the Karcher K2 that doesnt work any more with a whole bunch of accessories I wouldn't mind being able to use. Have resisted buying another unit but at this price it's worth considering….

    • The “wand” side hose looked the same as my old gerni - not certain but maybe it’s a standard? They had a display unit. Take your hose in lol

  • These electric Pressure cleaners take soooo long it was like night and day when I changed and got an Aldi petrol pressure cleaner with 3200psi and 3 year warranty for $349 a few months ago with.

    • +3

Just depends on the use case, want something to clean your car or dirt bike, this is perfect. Want to clean 50sqm of concrete… Then yeah absolutely get yourself a petrol one unless you are into self torture.
