40% off Orbitkey: USB Stick $21 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $100 Order) @ David Jones

350

40% off Orbitkey at David Jones. Was pretty popular last time. Looks like their range is pretty limited compared to last time though. I don't seem to be able to change colours at all either. Minimum order for delivery has increased too. C&C to avoid delivery costs is your best bet I guess.

Hopefully someone still finds this useful.

Edit: Just the USB Stick left.

$90 for a sheet of PVC* an a neodymium magnet. Let me guess, this product was popularised by some social media influencers.

    'vegan leather'…. riiiight.

What's vegan leather? Leather made of vegan people?

      • +1

        5/7 would buy again

        • 6/7 with rice

      • +1

        PU leather?

      • I wish! But then they'd still probably stink just as bad as when they were alive

    • Its like vegetarian leather from non-animals. Anyone remember Pamela Anderson going on about animal cruelty and animal rights….. whilst wearing a pair of uggboots? Lmao!! And a reporter pointed that out…. "these don't come from animals" lmfao!!

      • +1

Vegan leather doesn't come from non-animals though, they are synthetic man-made materials made from chemicals, like polyurethane or PVC. Essentially vegan leather is the fake leather of the 80's and 90's.

        • In this case, I believe it’s made from cactus.

    • I bought the large white one for $69 during 2021 and been using it since. feels really well made, still has that premium touch to it, still feels like new

I have no other orbitkey products as I never found such keychain designs comfortable or useful

      • The word "premium" shouldn't really be put next to the words "PVC" or "PU", which I guess is why the manufacturer doesn't use the proper terms for describing the product and calls it "vegan leather."

I just watched the video demonstrating the product, and am having a hard time figuring out how it's an improvement over the old school mouse pad + pencil case. There's some spiel about storing papers under the mat, but isn't that what a desk (and possibly drawers) is for in the first place?

But then I'm just cynical and old fashioned. I'm finding that my current wide-format desk pad (which goes under both my keyboard and mouse) to be inferior to just a normal mouse pad as the neoprene/cloth surface requires more effort to keep clean.

Screw it, even just typing out that paragraph made me realise that the wide mouse mat added nothing, and I just replaced it with my 5 year old Steelseries pad, which is permanently banged up up at least it's a better size.

I don't know what to say really? it looks kinda cool, and certainly looks and feels better than any of the XL mouse pads I went through in the past few years. whatever they did to the surface it's real easy to clean, and dust isn't really visible on the off-white-ish whatever colour this thing is.

I think the original idea for that double layer was yes to store papers there - but I never used it for that or even lifted the upper layer.

so maybe while the whole design of this product is a bit lost on me, it's a it of a step up from any mouse pad and looks nice on a desk

that said I am not saying it's for everyone, for me it was an impulse buy during covid lockdowns and it spent a couple months in the corner of the room as I was scratching my head why did I even buy this and how do I get on with my life as a whole

but now that I have it, I use it, and find it nice. would I buy it now knowing what it is and how it goes? probably no? but it's not bad either, and even if it's fake leather of w/e it's not bad, and hasn't fallen apart like a cheap mouse pad that absorbs dust like tomorrow wasn't a thing

  • Nest only available in Chadstone or Perth. No delivery option (even after bumping basket to over $100) :0(

    • I didn't actually try to buy anything and didn't see any indication of low stock. I am having issues trying now. Maybe it's all low stock. Sorry if that's the case.

      • +1

No problem with you or your post.
David Jones just doesn't understand the internet.
Have had some good buys from them occasionally but more often than not it's pure frustration and delayed refunds.

    • +2

As a not-so-proud owner of a Nest, don’t bother with it. Much too small and shallow to be useful. The charging pad is NOT portable use - no battery inside

  • Orbitkey Leather Key Organiser
    DELIVERY Not available

    • Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not really interested in Orbitkey stuff so I didn't try to actually buy anything. There was no indication of low stock when I tried adding it to the cart. This is probably a non-starter unfortunately.

Try rushfaster. Orbitkey on sale over there with similar prices.

    • That's why I looked up Orbitkey in the first place. I was looking at their sale and comparing.

  • my opinion - takes longer with more effort to get the key you're after. especially if your other hand is occupied.

    • -2

It's helps to use both hands when fumbling for the slot in the dark.

USB drive is the only thing left in stock

Thanks for letting me know. Hope some people got what they wanted.

Pretty awful website. Really puts me off posting about them again. Maybe even avoid shopping with them.

      • plus the usb is only 32gb…

  • +1

If you’re after the desk mat, Rushfaster currently have them for ~30% off

  • Orbitkey Nest is also $119.92 at Rushfaster.com.au
