All time low according to Camel Camel Camel.

RRP $979 if you believe VideoPro. Regularly selling $550-650 range.

Also about to post a H4n deal from Amazon JP. I am hopeless and couldn't work out what I need so bought both. (In reality, probably just a H6 but not at the same price as the H8).

From the specs:

ZOOM H8
MULTI-TRACK HANDY RECORDER WITH TOUCHSCREEN INTERFACE

12 simultaneous recording tracks, interchangeable capsules, and an App-driven touchscreen interface, the H8 is designed to meet all your audio recording needs.
Inputs & Outputs

H8 offers 4 XLR inputs with dedicated pad switches and gain control. 2 additional XLR/TRS combo jacks with Hi-Z switches allow you to capture line level signals, microphones, or directly record electric guitars and basses.

Monitor tracks using the built-in 1/8” headphone output or connect directly to your camera using the dedicated stereo line output.
Multi-Channel Audio Interface

The H8 is a powerful USB audio interface. Connect via USB to your PC, Mac, iPad or tablet for up to 12 channels of simultaneous recording.

  • That's a lot of audio inputs for that price, too bad I just bought a dr40x

    • I believe only 6 on board (plus the capsule stereo mic). If you need more you need to get the capsule add-on.

I probably do need the extra couple of inputs of the H6 over the H4n or dr40x, but I'd rather have another killer deal like the $300 H6 that was posted a while ago than the extra capacity of the H8.

  • -1

Micro USB isn't really good enough at this price point

    • +2

Yeah it is annoying, but most of these models are updated once every 5+ years. AFAIK there isn't really a competitive option with USB C.

  • Did you see the source store page? Says it's "zoom", but if you click on it…. it's clearly not.

    • Interesting. Sold and shipped by amazon though. Maybe just a database linking error?

  • What is this used for?

    • It's a very fancy audio recorder. Yeah it's a lot of money, but it's one heck of machine!

  • It looks like Reavers or Borg assimilated some tech to make that beast!
