  • you use shaving gel/ foam ?

"The pinnacle of over a century's worth of innovation and expertise"… and we're back to using single blade non-electronic razers… look how far we've come lol

    • +2

      PS I bought a couple ><

  • +1

Purchased last deal and ultra satisfied. It's got a good heft, shape and I love the longer handle (makes using it easy to manuever). The only downside is the handle is a bit too smooth for my liking, a bit of a rougher grip would've made it perfect.

I didn't bother to use the blades that came with the razor, I use Astra as my preferred blade.

    ~

Don't bother asking how it compares to X, you won't be able to compare this to anything in this price range. I have a Merkur ($40ish), that I've retired due to this Gilette.

    • Agreed, the knurling on the handle is a spiral that is quite slippery. But other than that, it is super good for the price.

    • +1

cheapish weird hack but if you find it too slippery, buy some tennis/squash racquet grip and wrap it around the handle. It will last for ages and doesnt go mouldy or anything. Replace it every 12 months or so.

  • Thought be about time to try a double edge set up….
Hoping the 90+ votes is a good sign this is the one to jump on

    • To note, it's not as fast as other methods but once you get into the meditation of double edge razors you'll feel pretty refreshed and manly.

It's also a close shave with low overheads.

  • +1

this is great entry level de razor to get you started, way better then the chinese cheapo ones.
i upgraded to an awesome heavy edwin jagger, the weight of it does the shaving for me.

Not purchased Gillette since their commercial about toxic masculinity

      Yawn!

    • +1

Thanks for sharing that. As a man: great ad, I’m glad I now know about it, and it makes me more likely to buy Gillette products.

    • Wow so cancel culture of you

  • I was lucky enough to try out the Dollar Shave Club razor for $2.41 (handle + 6 blades) when this deal was posted. Not bad for that price really but later realised it was a price error so no more expectations of cheap replacements.

Similarly, this one for half price (+ S&S) isn't too bad a deal.

  • +1

    Price back up to $24.99

    • Sale price still there as of now

  • Deal gone

  • lol took too long researching the benefits of the blade and just as I was about to pull the trigger it was gone!!! FML 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • +1

don't worry, this deal pops up every couple of weeks. Just set an alert in 3camels and you will be ok

    • +1

Just ordered one. Try again now!

      • Thanks. Yeah seems to be playing hide and seek 🤷‍♂️

Ended up buying this and spent $40 more on shaving brush and shaving soap. Gotta love ozbargain and the community here.

    • +1

I'm sure there are female OzB reading this thread & taking notes,
for their gifting ideas when the right time arrives :-)

      • +1

You know women shave too, right?

    • i hope you got badger hair shave brush. i use proraso soap.

      • I got the proraso boar bristle and proraso sandalwood soap as recommended by someone here.

        • How much did you get the brush for? Myer seems to have cheapest price at the moment but it’s only sold in city store which is inconvenient. Was thinking of the Wahl on sale at Shaver Shop instead..

  • +5

I'm pretty sure chemist warehouse is doing the same promotion as well. link here:

Bought this when it was last on sale as well. First safety razor and it has made me absolutely love having to shaving.

I have been using it with a 100 pack of Astra blades bought off Beard & Blade for $16, which I also highly recommend. Definitely suggest getting an alum block while you're shopping for blades, shaving soap, brush and bowl.

  • How does it compare to let's say Mach 3?

    • Kind of personal opinions. Some like them some not.
I dont think this is the best example of a DE razor, but if you can walk into Chemist Warehouse and get on for $15 its an ok way to find out. Or get one on AliExpress which IMO are better.

  • This is made in China.

For 12 dollars more get this, which is made in Japan and will last you longer

    • +1

Doesn't it make more sense to buy two of the ones on this post (one now and one later when needed) for about the same price? People have mentioned that it lasts for years anyway. I much prefer Made in Japan products any day but in this case the economics doesn't make sense unless the Feather razor goes for a special/ deal.

    • Its basic metal and a screw. Either will last until you drop them the wrong way. Probably crack a tile before the razor.

  • I have a thick 5 o’clock shadow within a few hours. I shave everyday as a personal preference. I use Gillette pro glide fusions 5 blades but wondering how these compare with my manly face. Any comments from any with manly facial hairs?

    • Manly face lol. I’m a middle easterner so I have no problem growing facial hair, and have no problems shaving with them, it all depends on which razor blade you’re using. It’s a cost saving thing with safety razors, you end up saving a lot more.

    • They generally clog less than a multiblade, and due to double sides you spin it and get twice the swipes before a rinse off.

  • how long in general do these sort of blades last? always been keen to try but just never sure how long the blades go?

    • +2

About 6-8 shaves in my experience. Pick up the 100 pack of Astra on ebay for $15.99 so you will always have a new one ready to go.

      • thanks :)

    • I'be bought 200 blades (Astra, ~22AUD) around 6 years ago. Just about to start the second hundred.

  • Ended up buying this and Astra Blade with Proraso shaving brush and shaving soap.

    • Received already this morning

    • You get the brush from Amazon? I looked last night and no stock. Myer price was also cheaper by a dollar or two but no stock nearby either.

      • I had the brush before, so didn't need it

    • Wondering if brush and sap have anything to do with a type of razor though. If you could do without it with the other razor, you could still do without it with this razor.

      • +1

Yes you can do without it but it’s part of the shaving ‘experience’ to have the nice soap and make a lather etc. I usually just use hand soap and warm water but today decided to buy some red Proraso and a brush and do it right.

        • Great. Makes sense!

  • Just in time for the King's birthday! Hope he grabs the bargain for the party! :)

  • Shame its gillette, is there another brand of similar price point?

    • +1

      I posted this above

      https://www.beardandblade.com.au/products/feather-popular-sa…

A bit more expensive but it’s made in Japan

      • Thanks looks good!

    • AliExpress has a bunch with the better butterfly mechanism at same price point. Yintal is probably the better end but the others like Baili and Weishei are fine.
last one I got was a Yintal on flash sale for $8.
Their quality is good, China makes them in the millions for their domestic market.

  • The true bargain is to stop shaving and let that beard grow! Embrace your hairy cost-saving manhood

  • +1

BTW, it's back in stock with delivery date June 26.

  • Chemist warehouse is selling it as well:
    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/113121/king-c-gillet…

    • Ah so that's where Amazon was price matching too. Amazon only does sales on low stock or short expiry. They price match the rest.

      • maybe add a report to this deal to add CWH to this deal so people who missed out on Amazon can still get it from CWH…

i tried to add a report but accidentally clicked resolved…

  • Looks like Back in stock
