What will you use them for?

I really need to turn off my automatic search for "knipex" on OB.

I seem to almost always have a pair of Knipex something-or-other on it's way to me.

Recently I am finding deals on Knipex pliers very frequent posted on OzB.
Are they the new Eneloops ?

  • Coming from Amazon Germany, so won't be usual Amazon delivery time…. but still a great buy. Selling for at least double locally.

  • After a plier set at the moment, for home use is there a big difference between the Amazon Basics 3-set and Knippex? After something to last a long time, but not sure if this is overkill.

    • Knipex will last a long time but can also be considered overkill. When you say home use, is that for DIY and renovating or a spare set in case you need them?

      • Thanks for the heads up. Just for working on my bike, hobby electronics and that sort of thing. Definitely not renovations.

I’ve been reading about types of steel but I’m not sure what is overkill.

A set of pliers is one of my most used tools for almost everything; bikes, cars, electronics, home maintenance, repairs and so on.

A good set to me needs precision jaws/teeth that will close parellel and grab tight, high quality material that will not break/easily wear teeth down/bend at the tip, quality finish that wont rust and a pivot that when held sideways the jaws will drop open automatically. Pliers are one handed tools and when you're holding something mission critical in one hand and you reach for your pliers in the other, they need to open without faffing around trying to hold and open the pliers at the same time.

I find Knipex reasonably well priced compared to other big name tool brands so it's an excellent investment. Check out project farm on youtube for some excellent tool comparisons.

  • These are great for unwanted ear and nose hair and also double as a convenient torture device if you need to pull the teeth or nails of your adversaries.

  • Hmm already bought the Knipex 200mm needle nose last week. Don't think I need another one LOL

  • Knipex are overrated and overpriced. Their reputation lives on from the quality they had 3 decades ago.

    • Link to your deal for better Long reach straight needle nose pliers for $38?
