[VIC] Selected Products for 1 Velocity Frequent Flyer Point @ Velocity Frequent Flyer Melbourne Pop Up Shop (App Required)

150

"Happening this Saturday 9am 10 June 2023 for 24 hours or until sold out. 565 Chapel St South Yarra."

Not sure whether this is a gimmick or not (I guess the upvotes and downvotes will tell). But the article on daily mail says "Customers can redeem a single Velocity Reward Point in exchange for a range of items from brands including Smeg, Apple, Weber and Adidas"

I think it just means you need to show up as early as possible. So probably start camping now

    • I'm getting the Apple Watch.

      What are you getting?

      • I've always wondered what a $219 toaster toasts like.

My working theory is forget the fact I buy the marked-down mass-produced packaged bread. My breakfasts are suffering because the toaster isn't toasting right.

      There are 1000 items though

Why not run a sweepstakes online so everyone in Australia gets a chance?

  • +1

Not a chance! Just a hard to win competition!

Kinda feel shafted that they do a physical rewards where most people can't conceivably attend.. have they not heard of the internet.?

    • I've been noticing that more and more of the promotions we see nowadays are trying to get people through the door. If I were to guess, probably post-pandemic rebound and trying to sell more items with other "sales" in store

The internet redemption is happening on Sunday

      • Oh really! Nice!

      • +1

It's not all happening on the same day, it's spread over 2-3 weeks I think.

For those not living in the best state in Australia

    • +4

I think you mean worst state, and I'm a Victorian.

      • Depends on where you live

        • Not really, the highest taxes in Australia are statewide, lack of healthcare is statewide, the lack of functioning roads is in all of Melbourne at least, etc

          • +3

@CheapBrah: So true. Melbourne is the worst and more people should leave.

            • +4

@Ghost47: The same could be said about Sydney, or any other major global city.

Don't bother joining the queue; it goes all the way to the Jam Factory and around the corner. The people at the very front of the queue must have been camping there for at least a day.

Someone in a VFF FB group I'm in said when they joined around 3 a.m., the queue was only around 20 people

  • Over 700 ppl at 8.30

Got my Seiko presage watch, lined up at 3:30 as spot 19

    • Commitment

    • Well done! Can we see a pic?

I saw on socials that some guy was there since 10 pm last night lol. I was flirting with the idea a few days ago of rocking up at 9 but couldn't be bothered in the end. Looked like it was fun though.

I went to this. Traveled 100km from Geelong to get there, we left at 6.45am and got to the line at 8.15am. By the time we got there the line stretched 1km long. I estimated around 700-800 people. Plus there were opportunistic people cutting in where the line broke up at street ends. Eventually security finally was brought in to control the queue.

I heard the first few slept in the street overnight. Brave move given its winter in Melbourne and the footpaths in Chappel st reek of urine from the homeless and the drunk. Apparently the guy who was there from 10pm the night before got an Apple Watch. Seems excessive for just a watch. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of apple and dieson products on gumtree/marketplace tonight at 90 per cent of RRP

after an agonising 3.5hr wait with two kids under 3, we finally made it in only to find the shelves mostly stripped bare. A nice looking vase, fruit bowl, cheese board set, Jamie Oliver cook books, yoga mats, skin cremes, and one Philips sonic care electric toothbrush were left. I was tempted to get the electric tooth brush as I needed one but there were still one way domestic flights left so decided to try my luck there. Partner and I both got flights to Hobart.

It was said there were 1000 prizes. So if you were in the first 1000 in line, you’d get a one way domestic flight or a hand crème at the very least

    PROS:
    Good atmosphere
DJ in the store played some good music

    CONS:
No food, would’ve been nice to get some ‘in flight’ snacks at the very least from the cabin crew members in the store
Should’ve been random prizes awarded to first 1000. The minute it became a choice, the person who was willing to last the longest was the victor
    Street reeked of piss

    • Do you get to choose the day and time for your flight to Hobart?

      • +1

Yes they gave us a unique code to redeem it as a rewards flight I suppose. There are blackout periods during school holidays and also a 6 month validity. They got our details to claim the prize including our velocity number which is how they probably deduct the solitary point for the transaction

@kosh52 We were one of the last few and got 2 x flight and thr phillips toothbrush.

Ive raised a conplaint about the voucher as the website terms and conditions states 12 months expiry.

Look at the T&Cs on this link

    Ill keep you posted.

    • Thanks for the update manish. How did you get the toothbrush and the flights, did you have a group of 3? I thought it was one prize per member

The online version launched about an hour ago and it’s like the click frenzy website, just crashes and is a s%%t show.

    • At least you got a notification, I got nothing all day

      • I got a notification through their Instagram stories feed. Presumably will have a notification on the Facebook page too.

  • Website:
”We know many of you were waiting for our first online 1 Point Rewards drop.
The demand for these rewards exceeded our highest expectations and created technical issues.
Unfortunately, we will not be launching our online drop tonight.
We will continue to work through the technical issues and update you tomorrow. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.“

    Guess we try again tomorrow…….
