MLN HP Pavilion G6-1315TU with 8GB RAM for $447

50

Saw this deal on MLN website, thought the price is quite good for a i3 with 8GB of RAM. The speakers are quite good on these ones as well. No USB3 is a bit sad. And also their title says 8GB RAM but the description said 4GB, a bit confused.

I was just comparing this deal yesterday.

It should be noted that Centrecom have the same model with 12Gb RAM for about $18 more after shipping costs have been added:

    • What can you do with a low end PC that requires 12gb of RAM?

      • i3-2350M is "low end" these days but it's still a lot faster than many CPUs 3 year ago. There are plenty of tasks that require lots of memory but moderate processing power. A software developer running Visual Studio or Eclipse (two biggest hogs I know), against a target running inside a VM (or multiple VMs)?

        • While that's all well and good, I doubt a software engineer or someone who needs to render anything for long periods of time would go for one of these. But what would I know.

Makes a perfect medic centre PC for my hifi system. I can replace my ageing tower PC which I currently use for that purpose. The footprint will be much smaller.

    • but centrecom are banned? :p

      • Centrecom is banned until 13 September. 4th time they were banned for sockpuppeting over the last 2 years. They really need to find a way to restrain their enthusiastic employees from posting comments on the Internet…

Is there a page where we can see a list of banned stores / sites and the reason?

        • Something like that would be useful.

And to clarify, I'm not affiliated with Centrecom in any way.

At $18 for 4Gb more RAM, I personally think it's also a good deal, esp for those who run memory intensive tasks. And as scotty pointed out above, an i3 is still a lot faster than many CPUs from 3yrs ago and perfectly capable for a lot of things.

        • list of banned stores / sites and the reason

Sorry not available yet. For reason you can go to Centrecom's store page on OzBargain:

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/centrecom.com.au

          It says near the top:

This domain is currently BANNED on OzBargain.
          Reason: Sockpuppeting, Expiry: 13/09/2012 - 13:50

  • I just rang MLN & it is with 8GB RAM.

  • I have owned HP before and the major problem is their air-vents. 2 of them are underneath the laptop and the tiny legs are not good enough to provide sufficient gap for hot air to spread out causing heavy overheating and automatic powering off of laptop. Not sure with this model though. But personally, i am over HP now!

  • This model of i3 has the HD3000 graphics, which is not too bad.

  • Cheaper option with less RAM but bigger HDD:

    $398 after Cashback Acer Aspire V3 i3-2350M 500GB 4GB(2+2) RAM 15.6inch Win7HP
