    It says on the back under warnings:
    食用油ではありません (not food oil)

    This was $11.50 before the price jack.

    It is food safe as in safe to use on knifes that you wash before chopping veggies. It is not for human consumption (cooking/dressing).

    I have it and use it on my chef's knives.

      Yeah, like hvbarg says it's not cooking oil but is safe for consumption and made be put on knives that will come in contact with food.

      I wouldn't agree it was $11.50 before the price jacking. It's sat mostly over $30 for years but briefly hit $11.50 before this price with other sellers still selling it well over $30. Just like I don't expect it to remain this price for long hence the post the price is currently jumping about a bit.
