Cuckoo Rice Cooker: CR-0631F 6-Cup $169 (was $189.99), CRP-JHT1010F 10-Cup Pressure Cooker $699 (was $799) @ Cuckoo

130

I'm told these don't go on sale very often, but I haven't been looking long so not sure if that's true.
Number of interesting features including items beyond just rice cooking including steaming, fermenting, congee, self-cleaning, slow cooking, bread functions, and Gaba rice function (Sprouted/germinated before cooking) and fermented bread (functions vary per model)

From my quick look selection of functions from above list + bowl type (Aluminium vs stainless), heating element type and max pressure levels (higher = faster) are the main price differences between models.
IH = induction heating, claimed to be better, more even heating around the bowl.

Units on sale:

Other colors available in some ranges, didn't link all the variants.
Store has been linked here before, I'm assuming it's reliable.

It used to be hard to get discounts on Cuckoo but things changed when Costco starting carrying them. Can get them discounted from Bing Lee's eBay store too.

  • Is it cheaper in Costco when it's on sale?

  • How do these compare to tiger?

    • I'm by no means an expert nor have even tried a Tiger model, but from what I understand. Zojirushi it's Japan's top (maybe just better marketing?) rice cooker manufacturer, with Tiger not all that far behind. Cuckoo is a Korean manufacturer but according to my reading, is of similar quality/features/functions to the Zojirushi.

The main thing for me was that these have power supplies built for Australia 240v, where the other two don't (that I have found), but may work here anyhow (230v, probably within tolerances).

Australia switched to 230V a couple decades ago. You’ll find that some states were less willing to drop the voltage down so they worded their standard as 230V with +/- 10% tolerance

        • dropped to 230V to deal with the surge of rooftop solar

    • Same same as Tiger but with the added benefit of not looking like it was designed in 1985.

  • Bing Lee got it cheaper as well. For example the 10 Cups CRP-P1009S is only 299, plus a freebie. Stack it with Cashrewards 8% cashback and the welcome voucher and u got it down to ~260 for exactly the same thing plus a 24cm wok.

  • thanks OP was looking into a cuckoo

does anyone know what the difference from
    CRP-CHSS1009F
    VS
    CRP-CHSS1009FN
    versions?

I've tried googling it and doing a comparison but doesn't say what the extra $90 in price difference is for the extra N

      Glad i could help.
      All i could see was:
Different language support (Malay vs Korean)
      Blue LED vs White LED
N functions (differences only): Nutritious rice, Chicken soup, Bread Baking
non-N functions (differences only): Steam cook, Slow cook, Oven brown fry, Red ginsing

So maybe targeted at different markets. possibly functions you won't use, or are just called different things.
Agreed couldn't find a lot different than called out.

      • thanks for the reply. have a good one

    The cuck of rice cookers

  • Bing lee shopback today might make some of these good.

Anyone who has one can recommend the best that still has induction?

  • We own 2 of them! Both are 3-cup so use them solely for cooking rice.
Has anyone done porridge in a 3-up cooker?

One of them was gifted by our overseas Tenant because he couldnt take it home.
He told us that the rice is good to keep-warm for 24-hrs and still fluffy. And it's true!

I need to check again regarding the bowl: does anyone know whether it's coated or stainless steel?
