These Celerons are so brutally slow.

  • Most of the reviews are positive though. I am looking for a basic one for grade 2 student. Cant find anything around 250 range. Kindly share if you know something with the same price.

    • You could get a decent used ex corporate laptop, with 8gb, i5, and12 month warranty, and install ChromeOS Flex.

      • Yes but they are much heavier

        • No, look further. Dell 7390 or HP Elitebook 830 will weigh less than this.

          • @bargaino: Thanks. I like the dell. Is it hard to install the chrome os if it’s currently running windows 11?

            • @BargainBenno: Quite easy, but I checked and those particular models are not on the certified list, which surprises me.

There are some similar, but slightly heavier 14" models. It might be hard to match that list with what is currently available ex-lease at good price/condition here.

I just use Linux, which is easier to install than Windows on common laptops, and everything just works. So you might consider that.

Note: Amazon combines multiple Lenovo variants in 1 post. So the reviews may be intended for other models.

      • … good to know… that makes those reviews utterly useless…

  • These are now $229 at Bing Lee: https://www.binglee.com.au/products/lenovo-82c1000jau-ideapa…

I need a basic school Chromebook and have $150 in back-to-school vouchers..

Are these okay? Or stretch to the Snapdragon CPU Duet 11" for $399?

EDIT: TN screen, F that… looks like the Duet with IPS is the way to go.
