    Edit - i'm a fool

  • +1

I call fake. No mention of WHICH wayfarers they are, which any legitimate seller would do (ie product code)

    • +4

Model RB 2140 with "Natural Green" lenses ??

      • +1

Rep added that last line after Ambiguous posted their comment.

Edit: Also seems to have added it to the website page

        • +1

          Fair enough.

    • Hi Ambiguous,

These are 100% Authentic Ray-Bans. The Style is Original Wayfarer (In Black) - Model number 2140 - 901 with Natural Green glass lenses.

      • +4

Can you prove they are authentic?

        • -3

          Hi Mick01,

These Ray-Bans come with the "Ray-Ban" logo, which is an interlocking RB etched in the lens. This is the only true way to determine Ray-Bans are Authentic.

        • +2

You could post a picture of this etching to add some credence to your claims, otherwise all people have to go off is a stock photo from the ray-ban site (which all the fake sellers also use).

        • correct and these glasses have that etching - as we keep saying, they are the genuine article

        • +1

I bought a fake pair from China for $10 which has the RB etching on it.

          Also the reps comment further down the page is laughable;

we took our stock to Sunglass Hut and OPSM and they confirmed that ours are genuine

I will only believe these are authentic when I see an invoice from a reliable distributor.

        • +1

I bought a fake pair on ebay from China for $5.95 which has the RB etching on it.

i've compared them to the real deal and I can't really see any major difference

        • got a link or the name of the seller?

  • +2

Supplier is www.bestchoice.com.au. Website has no model number (there are dozens of genuine model variants and associated numbers), no contact number and no ABN. Smells fishy.

    • +1

If there is no ABN, the deal should be removed.

      • The ABN for Best Choice is 84 158 425 677.

      • +11

Horribly wrong comment. Have you heard of grey market imports?

Let me paint you a picture. My name is James. I used to sell sunglasses on the Gold Coast for 2 years. These sunglasses are owned by Luxotica, and made in Italy. There are precious few companies that can get distribution rights from Luxotica, but you can get them in Italy or europe for less than half the price. RETAIL PRICE. Unfortunately due to the Australia Tax their retail price equates to our cost price here. In short, it could be a grey import, and they are good when it comes to sunglasses - ABN not required.

Now, as to whether or not it is fake or real. There are too many boofheads seeing a cheap deal and calling fake. If i really wanted to make a sale I could easily go 40% of retail price. The margins on these things are huge so the fact that it is cheaper isn't an issue, especially if these are clearance stock.

Externally they look like the real deal. If it is a fake, the luxotica mini book and the lens cloth look like excellent copies. The temples (the arms) and the face look consistent with the make. No one can be certain if it is real until you see the make and model on the temple as well as the ingraving on the lens. You need pretty darn high quality photos to capture this. So in short it looks real but the only way to tell is to try if you are game.
Personally I wouldn't, because ray bans are a P.O.S in my mind but that's my 2c having tried, sold and bought much much higher quality lenses

        • -1

STOCK PICTURE - could be just copied from a legit seller/site. So all you say about those details is crap, unless you have seen these actual glasses being offered or pictures of the actual glasses being offered.

Just like the ones from Thailand? What a bargain!

    /s

  • +4

I miss my old wayfarers with an actual glass lens, I've even pay extra for a proper glass lens but they don't make them any more.

I do pity people who are trying to sell commonly counterfeit items like sunglasses and handbags, probably explains why they are not often discounted because people see any sort of discount and immediately think "FAKE!"

    • +2

Why do you prefer glass? I would never go back to glass lenses.

  • These is the exact same model I got from the streets of Bali, pouch, sticker on lens and all!

    • -8

You could argue who the bigger sucker is, the person who buys a pair of these for $69 from some dodgy online shop or the person who buys them for $5 on the streets of Bali (plus $2000 for the Bali holiday, total cost, $2005).

      • +8

Your logic would hold if they went to Bali only to buy the sunglasses, which would indeed be silly. However, most people go there to drink cheap beer and lie on the beach!

        • +1

lolol… Were you being sarcastic or am I reading into it too much

    • -1

guaranteed they are not the same - we took our stock to Sunglass Hut and OPSM and they confirmed that ours are genuine

      • +2

WHY? Why would you need to take a sample of your stock to a rival retailer in order to check if it was a counterfeit?

Don't you have invoices, receipts, from a reputable distributor of genuine RayBay products?

Did your competition sign a letter or Stat. Dec. to the effect that the glasses they checked we're not counterfeits?

How many pairs did you have checked? One. Ten, one hundred. All your stock?

        • -1

because you can never do enough Quality Assurance

  • +2

Look exactly the same as the ones I got for $5 shipped on ioffer

  • +2

Call Fake for sure. If the picture is actual stock, as an owner of many pairs of wayfarers the insides of the arms don't look like that.

    • +1

The print on the arms don't look like mine either, but these things can change, can it not?

  • +1

Plus they look to sit way to flush, Real way's have a very noticeable lean to them.

    • As said before - our stock has been verified by Sunglasses Hut in Australia and SUREdeal is an Australian owned and operated company. These RayBan Wayfarers are 100% real. They have the lean on the lense, the model number on the arm, the etching on the lense, the engraved gold Ray-Ban logo on the pouch and come with the Genuine Ray Ban care manual.

The model number is RB 2140 - 901. They come in Black with the original Natural Green Glass lenses.

The engraving on the lense is impossible to take a photograph, as it is tiny. If you have a pair of Ray Bans you will know this.

    • +4

yes looks like they are photos of 2132s which i have.

Also, on the inside of the swing arm the writing is spaced out more on mine. also on the swing arm , near the knuckle mine is flush plastic where as SUREdeal has a thicker piece which thins out towards the end.

      edit
Also my Rayban logo doesnt stick out as much

Also the bridge has two defined lines on each side where the nose sits… mine doesn't

  • +1

Funny. all the Wayfarers I owned in the past had BL not RB engraved into the lenses..or don't they come with Bausch and Lomb lenses anymore????

    • Wasn't that 10, 15 years ago?

    • my wayfarers from sunglass hut have RB eteched into the inside of the left lense

      • As do ours!

        • +5

          So do my $10 fakes!

        • So do my $5.95 fakes!

    • I stand corrected, found out that B&L sold the company years ago..

Out of curiosity I had a look a pair at Sunglass Hut about half an hour ago and they certainly do have RB on the lens but from what I could tell it's not engraved rather it's embedded in the glass..anyway if they're genuine this is a great price..still prefer the originals though (I have a big face!)

  • Well it looks genuine to me. Is cheap anyway, reasonable price.
I honestly wouldn't be so harsh to myself to judge whether this is a fake or real.
And in fact i believe that if people really cared and wanted to spend money on a real thing they will just go out and get one from a actual store.

  • Mikeo, what is your ABN?
    edit answered above

  • +1

I'm not buying, but FOUR weeks for delivery?

    • +1

4 weeks for delivery because of the slow postage from China. They order the counterfeits AFTER they collect the money.

      • wrong, they are not imported from China

        • Russia?

          Why the four weeks?

        • -1

          Where are they made ?

  • +2

hmm i'm tempted but also worried about whether these are legit, is there any guarantee mikeo?

I've owned a number of legit (and thailand fakes) over the years and these plenty of minor differences between the real ones so i wouldn't be too concerned about the guys above saying they have small gaps here and different logos. They may have just been a different model of wayfarer.

Do these ones have the exaggerated lean or just a slight lean? i can't really tell in the pics.

  • +3

Can you post some more pictures of everything please? I'll like to see the barcode on the box, close look at the hinges and logo on the glasses, close look at the case and cloth. Thank you

    • GamersDelight. You have to understand that they only have a sample. This sample may be better than the one that will be shipped from China.

      • that would be misleading and we don't mislead

        • +1

Do you provide refunds in the case that I get one that is fake?

        • yes we do and we stand behind every product we sell, they are not fake - SUREdeal is one of the larger deals sites in the country and you can buy with confidence

  • +1

Is this one size fits all?

Interesting Video from youtube: How to Spot Fake Ray Ban Wayfarers (model: RB2140)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYzDb-mb-lY&feature=related

    • thanks for sharing the video - our stock is genuine and looks nothing like the fake in the video

      • Sweet, well without seeing any real photos of the stock i guess we can just take your work then.. Thanks.

  • +1

    1983 just called…wants it's shades back.

    http://foodcourtlunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/cruiser…

    • But this look is fashionable unfortunately.

  • +4

No size specified, I just looked it up, this one comes in three different sizes with the diameter of the lens and also the bridge (the middle bit that sits on your nose)

    • +1

The genuine ones you mean. These counterfeits come in one size only.

    • Totally forgot about that. Yeah, rep needs to step up and clarify things. Sunglasses, in any case, are not something I would buy without having tried them on. The chance of them not fitting is too high, and the RB2140 in particular, with it's slanted lenses. It seems to fit Caucasians better because of their facial structure - not sure if it is their higher nose or what. The bottom of the rims touch my cheeks when I put on the 2140 and it lifts off my face if I smile. The 2132 is much better for me in that regard.

  • HUUUUUUUUGE…comment to vote ratio.

  • 5 hours left… to buy or not to buy…

    • +3

      Ya want expensive counterfeits?

  • +2

Some sort of guarantee if I take these to Sunglass Hut and they say they're fake? What then Mikeo? Or I suppose I can just talk to my cc company and have it reversed as, "not as described". Confident op? 4 weeks shipping needs addressing too. Some logical questions that havent been answered. Slowly walking away from this "deal". Maybe I should run…. :)

  • thommo181 and anyone else that is wary and scared see this link below to our last deal on OB - the $2 sim card. The same negative comments were written then and we sold thousand's of them and no-one has since complained on the forum about non-delivery etc so you be the judge - we'd like you to buy them but if you don't want to that's cool http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75686

  • +1

    Undoubtedly Fake.
As others have mentioned, obviously the rep even questioned them if he had to take them to Sunglasses hut… Which is just weird taking them to another store to question authenticity…

Also there has been no attempt to show otherwise with actual stock photos of those he took the the store. i.e photo of the hinges and arms.

  • +2

The 4-week delivery time is the give-away.
If the sample seen by the rep is not taken from actual stock, then it is worthless.

    • I know absolutely nothing about these sunnies so not going to hassle the rep, but this is definitely a good point.

  • +1

I was just about to buy these and just read the comments here. Fake for sure, thanks guys!

  • +1

    1 month wait time?????lol

  • +1

Rep looks like he is playing dumb, avoiding legit questions and not supplying any proof except his word. I would walk away!

  • LMAO, 124 hrs to go now the deal, should be enough time for everyone to do more detective work to see if it is real.

  • +1

Hi there, deal sounds great. A couple questions:
Is the lense polarised (they come in 2 types)? What size are they (there are 3 sizes)?
    Thanks.

  • Hi Wm - no the lens' are not polarised and they are size A. Thank you for your interest

  • I want to buy this but only with Paypal. I cannot and will not take the risk with credit. At least with PayPal we have insurance. Also, you need to guarantee a REFUND if anything goes wrong. NOT a credit voucher. This is against the law. Please change your FAQ and make it comply with consumer law. Thank you.
PS I urge everyone to read their FAQ. It's quite rediculous.

    • If they turned out to be fake you have to prove that to Paypal. I hear that you need a evidence(such as from rayban telling you in a email that the serial number is fake etc etc).

You can't just tell paypal its fake.

  • +2

Hey guys,i was checking out fake rayban sunglasses on google, and i found the following website selling the fake rayban wayfarer, the fake rayban wayfarer photos looks exactly like the suredeal is selling.
well…not sure if the fake one is too close to the real or……… =D …haha…
    (site)
    http://www.raybansfakemall.net/fake-ray-ban-wayfarer-sunglas…
    (Photo)
    http://www.raybansfakemall.net/images/Ray-Ban-Fake-Wayfarer-…

Also go google search: rayban wayfarer 2005 , you will found few of those selling the same like the suredeal is selling.
The following site is selling it for $30….
well haha..fake or real?…probably only the seller knows about that..
as what i said again…people who are really looking for the real one should just go to the actual store and get one. This will let you walking out with the trouble of buying fake.

  • +1

Well I took the plunge several weeks ago.. still nothing in the mail..

    • How did you two pay?

      Credit card charge back?

    • I still haven't gotten anything too. It's been almost a month since I bought them..

  • same goes here

  • And no word from REP on thread… doesn't look good!

    • Has anyone received theirs? I have just emailed suredeal to ask what is going on…. Haven't had any correspondence with suredeal nor bestchoice for the whole month waiting. Will be contacting bestchoice also… Sigh

  • Just received my pair…

Watched this youtube video to compare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYzDb-mb-lY&feature=related and it ticks off most of the fake attributes….

Does anyone know how to go about with a refund? I stupidly bought two pairs! :(

  • Doublewhat, r u double serious?

    I bought a double too for a double's anniversary (24th Sept).
Not only I have to endure the month long waiting time, I'll also have to welcome a pair of fakes???

It was already embarrassing to give a gift late, I don't want to be met with fakes!

  • Just received the pair….they're authentic.

  • Guys, the wayfarers are not like the youtube vid that doublewhat posted. Ii think doublewhat somewhat exaggerated.

    • The box firstly does not have the recycle emblem on it or the barcode sticker… But if BESTCHOICE sourced these sunglasses directly from factory i guess they might not have gotten the barcode as they weren't going into retail stores?

Opening it up, the case is in good shape and feel, with rayban on the button and the sticker on the case looks good..

But opening up the case, the manual falls out which looks to be poorly printed out and isn't folded how the pamphlet should be and isn't the same size/shape..

The microfibre cloth isn't in a plastic sleeve either, rather it is just sat inside the manual which had fallen out…

The sunnies are then found in two layers of plastic packaging within the pouch with rayban design on the plastic packaging. - This might seem legit?

But then the sunnies do not have any of the stickers on them. The sunnies however seem to have the right angle and the hinges are the 7arm type hinge.

These pair have some fake/dodgey looking attributes but also have some real stuff going on. Could either be a different batch of fakes which are better copies now or directly from factory so they don't come with the extra "retail" parts.

I hope these are authentic but have doubts.

  • I have experience in buying Italian made household electronics, the companies usually carry a "SRL" following their company name, just like "John Doe Ltd". Furthermore, most Italian electronic printouts/pamphlets do look like they're poorly printed.

A few words from the REP would clarify my concern, and I'd appreciate it if anyone could come up with the explanation:

    1) Are there any specific procedures on how the cloth should be packaged?
    2) Are there any sticker conventions for the Ray Ban range (different model different stickers)?
    3) Can any Ray Ban owner tell us if their pamphlet printout is crisp clear or smudgy?

    • The pamphlet is crisp on genuine copies, thats a given..

    • lol, well i'm pretty certain these are fakes now..

I went ahead and opened up the second pair I bought and went to put them on my head..

For some reason, the left hand side would rest/touch on my left cheek where as the right side wouldn't. IT also did not feel centred and comfortable at all..

Took em off and checked the sunglasses..

What do you know, the left hand side is a has a longer arm by a few mm's and the hinges are mounted properly like the other pair, with the hinges sitting 3mm off flush from the edge of the sunglass frame, and the left hand hinge opening up to a much wider angle than the right hand side.

I will be emailing bestchoice now for my refund!!

      • Doublewhat - what response (if any) did you get from suredeal?

  • I contacted SUREDEAL and bestchoice, absolutely no reply from bestchoice as yet sigh… Suredeal replied to me and said that they received aviators instead of wayfarers so I can continue to wait AN EXTRA 3 WEEKS or get the aviators instead… This is ridiculous, they never bothered to contact me to let me know that this was the case, it took me to contact them to find out anything… Anyone else get this response?

Overall will never be shopping with bestchoice or suredeal again…
