  • Brilliant tv, especially for sport

    • +2

Just got mine about 1.5 months ago. . Agreed it is a brilliant tv, just a few things that is not great. No PIP (at least i can find howto do it) which for this day and age and tv of this size, unexplainable. Also, viewing angle is rather narrow. Prob 30 degs off center and it starts to look washed out.

Remote has limited buttons so inputting channel number is a bit of a hassle. Also no update (so far) for awhile now and maybe stuck at current firmware

      • Viewing angle is apparently one of the improvements of the 845 over the 835

Keen to hear dealception comments on this for discount stacking :)

For those that picked up the 10% off ultimate gift cards this would be $2695 at JB. Add average shipping of $59 brings it to $2754.

Edit: JB doing free metro delivery for all TVs over 70” till 18 June!

  • In terms of picture quality, how would you rate the ones below?
    - Sony X90K (full array)
    - TCL C835 (MiniLED)
    - Samsung The Frame (2022) QLED

Struggling to pick one. They appear to be more or less in the same price range.

I've boycotted Samsungs since they started showing ads in the menu.

      • What the FK?! Was not aware of this, thanks

    • +4

The Frame is edge lit AFAIK, so even though similar price range, the underlying screen tech is at a lower level than other two.
Looks fine in person, but will be same as other base Samsung units in terms of dark scenes. Also susceptible to hazy glowing artifacts from backlight, I believe. Fine if your get a really good deal and want the Frame aesthetics, but otherwise not same level.

I've heard some issues on the 85" version of the C835 specifically that have some people ruling them out (search other entries here for details).

As far as I've seen, the X90k is pretty solid option all round, but with new versions coming not sure about updates moving forward. But then, that's why it's cheap.

      • Thanks!
Unfortunately, C835 doesn’t have 85’ version. And yes, I heard about some issues with 75’.
Agree, X90K comes as an all round winner here.

Wish I could find a bargain for LG CS 77’ OLED. Looks like very few stock available and no bargain :(

        • Haha, true. Is it the 75" version that has a student so with some specific issues? Anyway, kind of rules itself out at 85" by virtue of not existing.

    • Sony or TCL. Big NO for Samsung, pretty bad quality control.

    • +1

For sport and motion in general, the Sony wins hands down.

For cartoons, the TCL will probably look the best.

For movies and tv shows, not sure.

      • Fast motion, which the 835 struggled with is apparently much better on the 845, not sure how the new model compares to the Sony though.

      • Why is this - processor, refresh rate?

    • Honestly I'd only really go for OLED if I'm spending that amount of money.

Other technologies just aren't as good or you may as well just get a 10 year old plasma for cheap.

      • +1

There's no 85/83" OLED for that price. I have this exact TV, PQ wise it is very close if not better than my 9yr flagship Panasonic 65VT60.

  • +2

Don't forget the targeted Amex deal to make this even better - spend $500 or more and get $100 back!

  • Ask them to price match Video Pro to save another $15 😉, $2980
If you are in no rush, then sit back and wait for the 12% cash back.

    • When is the cash back happening?

  • Anyone want to buy my 85" X8500G lol

  • So I went to my local JB to have a look.

They said free delivery offer ends this Sunday.
They were also willing to come down to $2966 FWIW.
Also JB double the warranty - so the 2nd year is at home JB warranty, and you can extend to 4 years for another $300.

Haven't decided what I want to do yet or which way i want to go.

    • +1

Waste of money extended warranty, you would be covered for at least 4 years for a tv of that price range under Australian Consumer Law. Crazy how retailets still trick people into buying extended warranties!

      • How does this work? I see a lot of people on Whirlpool mention it too but if it's out of warranty isn't it out of warranty end of story? Have a Sony TV that just died after 5 and a bit years so I just assume I have to pay for any repairs since it is well out of the 12 month warranty period.

  • 8% cashback on the purchase price less GST, right?

    • +1

Yes. It’s 8% on the EX GST amount. So it was $217.82 cashback.

Updated the amount above. Apologies I wasn’t aware.

  • Out of stock for now it seems

  • Good guys is doing $2,795.00 after 10% off on their ebay store. But need to pay $55 for delivery.
    Maybe sony can match this.

    • i don't see the listing.

      • I can see a code YIPPEE10 on that page, take another 10% off

  • +1

I bet this looks phenomenal, I have an X85K 85" and everything I watch looks great already, and gaming is chefs kiss.

    • +1

I have a smaller x85 and its generally pretty good, its just some blooming issues and minor backlight bleed which is noticable in dark scenes for HDR content. Definitely best of edge lit but would recommend full array or mini led tech as edge lit is really old outdated tech these days

      • I also did the MediaLight LX1 bias lighting kit which helps with the blacks and overall perceived contrast, love the TV for the price I paid.

  • +1

Cashrewards cashback is up to 10% for now

    • it is? Still showing 8% for me.

      • 14% at the moment if you're still interested in this TV.

  • +1

If anyone got this TV, is it possible to share measurements required (length) for the tv stand table. Thank you
