the seat pan on this is for tiny tiny bums

    • Seat Width 505 mm
      Seat Depth 394 mm – 470 mm

      How big are you??

      • +2

I can confirm this is 100% inaccurate.

    Dat shipping sigh

  • Bought one myself during Covid, genuinely good chair. I got mine with the additional adjustable lumbar, I kinda wish I didn't as it's a bit too aggresive, but 4D arms was the right decision.

I tested one of these along with a couple of Steelcase and Herman millers and the fern felt so cheap in comparison. Recommend trying the others first. (I ended up with a Steelcase Gesture)

Funny you say that. I did the exact opposite. Took forever to sell the gesture on Facebook marketplace. Only 10/10 from that chair were the arms.

I also had the opposite experience - my Haworth Zody has more adjustability, metal legs, wider armrests and was half the price of the equivalent Steelcase and Herman Miller.

The worst for me was the Herman Miller Embody… I honestly could not believe it… The Herman Miller Aeron was pretty terrible too in terms of 'plastic-ness', especially the front of the seat pan that just digs into your thighs, and the mesh fabric of the seat itself was very uncomfortable.

Steelcase was just like any other plastic office chair - seemed to me like it was just all hype… Nothing spectacular for the crazy price - might as well get a Buro at Officeworks for much cheaper!

Edit: I didn't neg you. Above is just my opinion - I definitely recommend that everyone should go and try each chair for yourself, as we all have different body types.

Agreed on the Embody felt very uncomfortable. I'm curious if there are different versions of the Fern floating around. Seems to be a lot of variation in opinions on them. E.g the Officeworks one has pretty bad reviews about the quality

        • It's the same chair, just with a plastic rather than metal base - and some features are stripped. That was OW's choice though to get the price down to how they sell.

  • Best chair I have ever owned. Mind you to check if it's a brand new chair or display models as they sell them altogether on the outlet website.

If you want the headrest you can buy it separately from Haworth Sydney. Paid $250 including shipping and installation.

  • I tried all the famous chairs and zeroed in on the Fern. Been such a good upgrade from what I had previously. Solidly built and so comfy. Purchase and pick-up from Stylecraft warehouse in Melbourne was seamless as well.

  • What about warranty?
Is it as good as Herman Miller?

    • +1

12 years of coverage on everything except for the upholstery, which has a five-year warranty.

As seems to be the case in 90% of these chair deals, the shipping just kills it if you aren't in the city. Shame

  • Where about is pick up in Melbourne

  • LMAO Shipping:

    Standard: $517.62
    Express: $1,715.20

I was going to buy one, but… LMAO!!!

Someone has made a boo-boo… Nothing costs that much to ship.
