Hoping there is overstock left for Blackfriday deals this year. 65" sub $2k……………..

    • +7

id put more effort into becoming a lg vip member if your looking for a new tv

      • Got a new Hisense 9AU last year and it's under return replacement with TGG for faults. So have to buy from TGG.

        • Hey rezmata, I've been looking at buying the 75" Hisense 75U9HAU. I'm interested in your opinion whether it's a worth while purchase, also what's is the integrated soundbar like?

          • +3

@Cruiser: "Had high expectations with this TV. But it did not, its a decent tv, but think the processor is not upto the mini LED HW. Frames jitter occasionally when subjects move into bright areas, Blooming exists and the VIDAA OS cant keep up in performance. Not to mention lack of apps (no Paramount+ for starters). The screen emits heat like its an electric heater (a nice 2-in-1 for winter :) Read reviews, seems like Australia gets a different (lower end) version to what US gets. Its evident in the remote it has dedicated buttons for ABC iview and Kayo - so the reviews must be true of the different lower grade panels and processor (and color printed box packaging).
But for this price I recon its the very best we can get, especially if you can live with these faults - like I do. Else for perfection need to increase your budget. (tho I dont know how similar TCLs are doing)" - FYI From a comment I made before for the Hisense 65H9AU. The sound is decent, but I wouldn't rely on it for cinema quality.

            • @rezmata: Appreciate your feedback, might spend a bit more and look else where.

              • @Cruiser: Yup, it's best if you can afford to push Ur budget for a better investment. Good luck mate!

Yeah spin to win my mate got a 40% off voucher but alot of the models were sold out online with no back order available option

      • +2

You need to be a business VIP member to get the huge discounts. Normal VIPs only get 10% off TVs and the 20% EoFY code doesn't work :(

Which sucks, cos can get the 65" for $2500, which I'd jump on so quick!

      • Is this the LG VIP member? https://www.lg.com/au/membership

    • Still happy with my 65 CS for <2k (had 10% off GC) last year. Currently on clearance for $2120. I think that's a great deal with discounted GC

    • I don't remember their last top tier oled being sub 2k for 65" ever.

Edit: apologies I thought this was the G3.

  • anyone seen any 42 c2s around?

    • They seem to be all gone 😔

      • david jones has them but for same price as c3 haha, finally decided to upgrade my monitor and all deals are gone :(

        • +1

I spent a week thinking about it while prices went back up

        • Did you just say "monitor"? Isn't it too big to be a monitor

          • @Oztx: 42 inch is stupidly oversized for a monitor but the C2 42 was going for fairly cheap so people were making it work. Try sit further away I guess?

            • +2

@cyrax83: 42 isn't stupidly oversized. It's all relative. It depends on your use case, how deep your desk is, how you're mounting it and as you said, how far you sit makes a difference. Mine is 70% media consumption, 20% gaming and 10% web browsing. It's absolutely perfect in size mounted on an adjustable monitor arm. My desk is over 1m deep and I still pull the TV forward.

              • -2

@NoApostrophePlurals: Sounds way too big. But it's your preference.

                • @plmko: In my case the 42 inch was undersized as a monitor for my line of work.
Horses for courses, one size does not fit all.

Still loving it as a TV for media and ps5 gaming.

                  • @MoreChilli23: How crisp is the text on those oled TVs? Usually text isn't sharp enough on TVs. I am talking about small text like with coding and writing.

                    • +1

@Oztx: It was crisp enough for me, I sat 1.3m from tv and ran a program with tiny font (and I don't have great vision…). Others tend to disagree though, this is the one area where people complain about the c2

                    • +1

@Oztx: Text is perfectly fine and sharp if you don't use the "PC" mode for the HDMI port. Unfortunately if you enable PC mode (for low latency) it seems to make some text a lot fuzzier/blurrier. Annoying, but I put up with it as I mostly use my C2 42" for PC gaming.

        • +1

Patience mate…still 2 weeks left for EOFY.

        • I run a 42" at ~700mm and it's great for me for general desktop work
Mate has a 48" at a similar distance and love it too

          • @robbo600: @robbo600 that's exactly what I'm wondering. Should I get a 42" C3 or 48" ? I'm currently using a 27" LG and I'm a VIP Business member so can get a 48" for $1881.75 and a 42" for less than $1500. Should I just opt for the 48"??

    • Yup seems to be all sold out

    • I had few days last month chasing up stock at JB trying to get them to price match. With low stock everywhere and them being reluctant to budge on price closer to the deal pricing of $900ish, i decided to buy one for $1380 from them.

Drove around the back to pick it up only to be told it was a mislabelled damaged TV.

Tried a few other stores after that and they were all out of stock. The C3 released a few days later with the 42 being $2400ish and thought I'd just buy a HDMI 2.1 monitor instead.

Luckily ended up finding one from Videopro instead. Got it delivered for $1490.

  • +3

No 48s, and way too much for a 42.

    • The 48 is $2205 and in stock at every JB near me.

      • $705 too much

  • Using the 42 as a gaming monitor going to cause burn in? I'm looking to upgrade from my 34" Xiaomi I bought in 2020, I've never quite gotten the pip to work

    • If PIP is a required feature, I don't think the LG OLED TVs have that. With burn in, there's video's on YouTube that test this.

    • +1

Gaming isn’t too bad for burn in as long as your playing different games and not the same one with static HUD elements all the time.

      • You won't get burn in. There is so much tech in the TVs now to avoid this.

        • My B2 got burn in, so this is categorically false

          • @Aftos: lol how were you using it to get burn in?

            • @serpserpserp: Stupid amounts of rocket league mate. Burn in for HUD elements is definitely there

        • -1

The tech does next to nothing it didn’t do 5 years ago (which are now having burn in)

  • +1

This or the Sony A80K range for just movies? I’m in the market for an OLED, and the research I did point towards the Sony

    • +1

Both great tv's. I would recommend anyone that's in the market for any of those to check them out in-store. The benefit of Sony I think it's Android. Many people prefer that.

      • +3

I've got the Sony A80J and while the picture is amazing, the combo of the processor and Google TV lets it down. The OS is laggy and ruins the experience. Hopefully this has been addressed in the new models.
My LG C9 from 2019 runs a lot smoother.
In my opinion the Sony has more accurate colours out of the box without calibration when compared to the LG.

        • +3

Every Sony TV I've used has had this issue. So frustrating.

    • +4

I've got the older A80J and it's great. Mates got the LG and honestly, it's hard to tell the difference. Personally I'd grab whatever one is cheaper.

      • Hard to find better bang for buck for the price this and the S95B were selling for.

    • +4

LG C3 for gaming, Sony A80K for Movies

  • G3s for sale too. Damn.

  • C2 for $2545 or C3 for $3140. Any thoughts? Purely for movies, tv shows and sports (AFL, cricket etc). Replacing a Samsung Plasma

    • Where are you seeing the C2 for that price and what size?

    • Not a great difference between the two so I'd save the $600 if I were you.

      • Point taken and C2 ordered. Almost the cheapest it's ever been. The G2 at $2999 is probably the best buy out of the three, but mounts to close to the wall and due to power points behind the tv, it won't work.

    • -2

If you’re watching a lot of sports you definitely don’t want an OLED, logos will burn in and it will be too dim

  • I feel better about getting a clearance C2 for $2690 last week!

  • C3 or S95C? Was thinking of waiting for 55" S95C to at least drop to around $2k (knowing the S95B dropped to ~$1.5k) and buying with discounted GCs (will also be replacing a Samsung plasma). I like that the S95C has 144Hz, so slightly better for PC gaming at least, and better for TV shows/movies too, right (being QD-OLED)?

    • Apparently build quality and QA on the 95C is horrendous. While it’s the better panel expect issues.

  • Bought a C2 83', the spec seems identitical.

  • +3

The OLED 42inch C2 was $1000 a while back, that was a bargain!

  • confused b/w c3 or b3 55inch. can get the 55B3 for under 2k though..

    • +1

B series is generally the lesser model. Less features like less HDMI 2.1 ports and less brighter panel than the C series

  • Just picked up the c3 42” as a monitor this morning from JB as my first OLED. For anybody sitting on this, just do it. OLED is incredible technology. I also play in a fairly lit room and the reflections are not an issue since the screen is pretty bright.

  • Hi Op, have you seen any 4k tvs under $400? Thanks

  • Buy a 65” G2 for $2.5k or wait for spin and win in 2 days to try score a 40% discount on the C3/G3?

    • Might miss out on the 65g2 by then

    • C2*

    • Im signed up to LG but never received any emails about 'spin the wheel's. Is there something I need to activate?

        • I cant open the doors, is anyone else having trouble with the website?

          • @smako69: You had to have signed up before the 12th of june. I’ve gotten a 20% off voucher so far.

            • @CasinoSyndicate: Working now but some emails say 'No matching data for given email found'.

out of 20 accounts i only got 20% too

              • @smako69: Holy shit, you signed up with 20 accounts? Haha, if you score more than 1 40-60% discount and you’re not using it, i would love to grab it off ya!

                • @CasinoSyndicate: If I did, I would've been more than happy to share them. Unfortunately my luck is so poor I did not even get a 30%

          • @smako69: Having the same issue, signed up on 8/6

            Edit: It's working now

            • @JaeTee: Just tried it and it worked. Can't say i got any mythical 40%'s or even a 30% which is upsetting

  • Man, the jump to 77” is a killer :( Got a larger room and 77 would hit the spot in it. May need to accept that 65 is my budget

  • Dam, pulled the trigger on a 55” C3 from good guys a few days ago as they price matched videopro/appliances online for $2590.

    This is a good deal.

  • +1

I’m looking forward to sone good future special on an. 85” OLED tvs, I’m very happy with my 75” Sony , great picture in a bright room with 2m high windows on two sides , but looking at getting an OLED as most of my tv use is for night time movie watching

  • LG CS for $2150 or pay the 20% extra for the C2?

  • I'm thinking of
48 inch for 4 payments of $470.44 with afterpay: price $1,881.75 marked down from $2,895.00 Save $1,013.25
    or
42 inch for 4 payments of $421.69 with afterpay: price $1,686.75 marked down $2,595.00 save Save $908.25

it would be in the office for work and gaming??????

    • How do you get that price with afterpay?

      • Its the VIP price, I was thinking of using 42" or 48" as a monitor. Do you think afterpay would be ok?

        • +1

As long as it doesn't put you in financial distress, I don't see a reason why not?

  • What are everybody’s thoughts on getting the 3 yr extended warranty with the purchase of an OLED tv? It adds to about 10% of the price of the tv on top of the price you pay for the tv…are they worth it?

    • -2

Get the warranty, after 4 years you will get burn in, get screen replaced and you will have another 4-5 years out of the tv

      • Makes sense!

        • +3

No it doesn't. You won't get burn in unless you do it intentionally. As in leave your tv on 24/7 with the exact same shit on the screen for a year or so.

          • @bert-lifts: I have an oled lg in my bedroom, never watched anything static only movies for 2-3 hours a night and guess what, the entire screen has burn in, its a B7, 5 years old exactly
