They finally got me, I paid $17 for it since I own Assetto Corsa and even when you remove from library it only gives you the option to buy as a gift.
How did you get it even paying $17?
This has been a stupid limitation for years and I've given up on it out of principle. So absolutely dumb.
Adding the DLC on sale separately comes to about $17

I was having the same issue owning the base game in steam, tried deleting and re purchasing ultimate edition but wouldn’t let me. CD keys have the ultimate edition on sale for $10.49 so I just purchased from there and added to steam and the base game was upgraded with all the dlc!

get yourself started with downloading "Content Manager", it's an alternative launcher for the game. Other than being a launcher, it's also a mod installer, an efficient one that is.
There are tons of youtube videos demonstrating step by steps process and what the famous mods author are (Race Sim Studio, Simdream (bit scummy i recently learned), MNBA, FSR, etc).
For Youtube channels, try SirSpat, SimRacing604, etc.
Does this show up in your steam library as Ultimate Edition? I have Assetto Corsa and it came with 11 DLC packs when I bought it although the game itself just says "Assetto Corsa" , suspect I already have the Ultimate edition though?
no it doesn't. Only shows plainly as "Assetto Corsa" even for the Ultimate edition. Since you have 11 DLCs, chances are yours is already the Ultimate edition.

This. You'll find yourself getting a wheel soon after though. Controller would be fine in the interim.
Does this run well on the Steam Deck?
This simulator still holds it's own and the mod scene is incredible!
It's currently slightly cheaper at GamesPlanet UK if anyone is still interested.
It's £5.35 which equates to $10.45 using PayPal conversion, or I got it for $10.03 using my CC conversion.
