  • How would this compare with my aging Sony VPL-VW12HT? My main grip is that despite it being in a dark home theatre room, I still dont get enough brightness. Could this work in a slightly bright room?

    • Considering your current projector is 1000 Lumens compared to the BenQ at 1800 lumens, you would see an improvement in brightness levels in your room, however it ultimately depends on how much light is coming in (e.g. small windows vs large sliding door vs open living will all impact the image differently). The JVC NZ3 is the same price with a brightness level of 3000 lumens so it will typically perform better in a brighter environment.

  • +1

This one is much better choice

    • Yes it is, if we can get the same price down here.

    • Not a fair comparison imo

Maybe this might be the better deal for a little more?

EDIT. Price back up (to $4279) on the Epson so it's not the deal it was. Still a much better unit but depernds on your budget, I guess.

  • Do you have one on display at your Hampton site?
I have always had an LCD projector due to the colour wheel effect, and I want to see it in person.

Guessing this would be a pretty big upgrade over an old Epson TW3600 ?

    • Unfortunately not on display in Hampton but it is on display in Preston if you'd like to make the trip down :)

  • there is no comparison to the epson…the W5700 will kill it and its much better than the 9400, deeper blacsk and better depth

    • Really? What about the low contrast?

      https://www.mondoprojos.fr/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Contra…

Just for comparison, the Epson goes as high as 4000:1.

    • "Contrast for the HT5550 is excellent overall, and though its black levels, especially on the darkest scenes, aren't quite a match for the Epson Home Cinema 5040UB I use as a reference, they're close." 5040 is a TW9300, so TW9400 should be superior?
