Cheapest gaming laptop on the market
32nm sandy i5 and 22nm Kepler gpu with 2gb ddr3 dedicated Video ram. You can always add a ssd to speed up load and boot times but as is it should still play most everything fine with the non demanding screen Rez.

Gpu info

the office works model DOES have a 630m .. and YOU CAN NOT Price match… not that you would want too its a much much worse GPU!! so worth the extra $10 for the 640m

Imo probably better off waiting until Windows 8 comes out and then see what laptops there are especially with touch pads that are more advanced, most current touch pads suck especially for gestures which can make life on Windows 8 a bit better.

Right… so you advise people to wait for an operating system that will require a new type of touchpad to be tolerable, while the current operating system and hardware work fine. Furthermore, the OP's emphasis for this model is mobile gaming on a budget, which usually involves keyboard and mouse.

      Use touchpad for gaming…got it!

    • has anyone tried touchpad gaming?
maybe do it on WOW or Diablo or CoD? let's see some finger cramp

I went to the ultimo msy today, was the worst customer service ever I have experienced.

    • Varsity Lakes MSY is really good. All depends on the staff in a given location.

    • everywhere is the same…..

Is thats a sell point ?

gee it only took 3 comments to paraphrase "wait for windows 8".

I won $10 on that bet.

    • for $15 bux u get a copy of windows 8 and with a non touch laptop its CRAP… you best off just using windows 8 in desktop mode only with the start8 app to bring back the start menue.

      • +2

Or just stick to windows 7, I know if I buy a laptop in the near future I will be "downgrading" it to 7. Win 8 really doesn't offer that much to me over 7.

It's certainly a great OS if you will be using it on a tablet, IMO it should have been called windows tablet 8 or something, with a separate desktop version released.

Screen resolutions like that make me want to cry. It's just so dahm bad.

  • "example of instore manager promotion". does that mean it is store specific?

  • Went to the auburn MSY on Thursday and was told it was out of stock in NSW but confirmed the price was $599 even though their last sale had expired.

I ended up getting mine from Online Computer instead and pretty happy with the laptop so far.

  • there are a lot other laptops on discount atm as well not many of them really stand out though

  • Toshiba dual touch screen laptop, libretto w100 (tablet?) is $399. Do you think this is a good value?

    • It's soooo small this thing is almost like a mobile phone in size

Rather buy a Lenovo for a few bucks more, see http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/78208 for this weekends' specials & my comments on an i5 system @ $699.

This has a video card twice as powerful..the Lenovo isn't even in the same league
