TCL C845 MiniLED TV 55” $1380, 65" $1845, 75" $2760, 85" $3450 Delivered to Select Cities @ Appliance Central

251

Good price on the update to the OzBargain favourite C835. Hopefully it will eventually drop down to similar prices as well. Can price match at JB, but not the 85” if you live interstate

Improvements over the current model include:
- 500% to 70% brighter, can now hit over 2700 nits in HDR
- 240hz at 3840x1080 (where the other vertical pixels are interpolated)
- Twice as many local dimming zones at all sizes (Up to 896 in the 85”)

All in all a much better TV that is now competing with Samsungs top end models and OLED at half the price.

55” - $1380
65” - $1845

There is no comparison to OLED it’s different technology.

    • +1

yep i had the 835 for 2 weeks and took it back and got a lg cs. the quality is unmatchable

      • +2

what store was it bought from?

why they let you return a used product?

what size and price paid for the TCL and LG CS model?

        • A lot of retailers do under 'not fit for purpose'.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: Change of mind is not the same as not fit for purpose.

            • +1

@eccaz: I realise that, what is your point?

        • +5

Jb hifi c835 had a stick/dead pixel after a week or so but it really wasn’t that impressive even without the defect.
Paid about 2k for the c835 ended up getting the 77 cs for about 3.7k with 5 year warranty

          • @bob98: does jb hifi let you return open item if there was no dead pixel?

how is the brightness of the OLED compared to the miniLED of TCL?

is the main thing you like about OLED the black picture quality
or the colours look better as well?
and anything else you like about the OLED over the miniLED?

what is main issues you have with the TCL miniLED?
and how it compares to normal LED or QLED TV?

Paid about 2k for the c835 ended up getting the 77 cs for about 3.7k with 5 year warranty

You paid for extended warranty for LG and how much did it cost?
            Is it necessary with ACL?

          • +5

@bob98: Mate never pay for extended warranty. I used to sell them on TVs and I wouldn't buy one. We have some of the best consumer guarantees in the world for free.

            • +1

@Ryballs: Yep most people dont know about Consumer Law guarantees. If you are spending 3-5k on a tv it is very easy under consumer law to get it replaced even at 5 year mark, I would be arguing 5-10 years for a tv should be minimum lifespan for one selling for 3k or more.

            • @Ryballs: while consumer law is good it is not gonna be easy.
many companies might try to weasel out of it.

Read some posts about people have issue with warranty with Sony, Samsung, LG and even Aldi TVs..
and they refused (even if you mention ACL, they will say sorry and you can do that if you want).
or just drag it out and pass you around to different departments (and hope you give up early).
Experience this myself when trying ACL with one of those big companies.

Some people also don't know about consumer law or how long it applies to TVs..
The site is actually vague about the time that it applies..
So some people think might just be easier to buy extended warranty and get it replaced/fix etc
knowing they go up to 5 years warranty for such an expensive product.

              • @pinkybrain: Just take em to magistrates court if they refuse. I did and got full refund on an out of warranty macbook pro.

Looks like you struck a nerve with the fanboys. Mini LED is in fact no match for OLED so I'm not sure why you're getting down votes.

        • +2

Yeah not sure what there upset about nothing compares to oled I spent months and months researching and had both in my house with movies gaming on all the new consoles oled is a clear winner and could be obtained for the same prices as this miniled beginning of the year

          • @bob98: Maybe there upset about burn-in. It's the main reason I haven't bought an oled tv.

My mate watches sport and has the logo burned into the corner. It's very annoying when you watch anything else and have a logo burned into the corner or watch a movie and the logo's still there 🤬

          • @bob98: Can you actually get a 120hz at 4k OLED for the same price as a mini led?

        • -1

What makes you say that? I’ve used both MiniLED and my c845 will be replacing a C2 and they’re both better at different things and scenes.

          • -1

            @cille745: You’re replacing a C2 already? Must be nice…

            • @eccaz: No, it’s quite a lot smaller, going into a different room

        • -5

It is crazy how the love a tv forms a part of people’s identities.

    • -1

There is at this price range. It's around a third of the cost.

      • -1

55” and 65” OLEDs have gone for cheaper than these prices.

        • But do they have 120 hz at 4k?

    • +1

True that they are not as good as OLED. Not sure why OP even mentioned these and OLED in the same sentence. That being said they are still pretty good value for money.

      • -1

Looking to replace a 13year old 55 Sony LCD, was at the shops looking at new Sony Bravias including the FALD 65. Then looked at this TV and its no comparison, the TCL C845 was just incredible, very good blacks, beautiful colour. Bear in mind I also have an LG C9 OLED still in pristine condition and I was super happy with this TV. I wont be buying any of the Sony and will hold out for the next deal of this TV.

For all people on the fence, do not rely on comments on internet forums, go to the shops and see it for yourselves. Its easy to elimate the ones you like and choose between the models you do like.

        • I mean in store tvs are over tuned and satured to look their best but to a degree i see what you mean, good reviews on these tvs anyhow

          • @Shanetrain: I looked at the colours and the blacks, I also visited the sony store to look at the fald TVs there, in every store the c845 looked heaps better than the Sony's, esp the blacks on Sony didn't look black but the ones on the c845 did.

Need a final closeout deal on 75" C835

  • I recently got one of these in the 65" as a warranty replacement for a X7 QLED. Picture quality is a LOT better and the operating system is ridiculously quicker, the old android TV was painfully slow.

    • The Roku units are supposedly the ducks nuts compared to laggy Android.

  • -1

Have they fixed the motion issues on these?

    • what issue?

      • The 835 is horrible at handling motion.

        • do you own it?

          and what motion handling mean?
          -blur or what?

          • @pinkybrain: Yes you can call it blur.

Fast moving objects and panning scenes are horrible on the 835. Sport is almost unwatchable on it.

            • +1

@eccaz: do you own this model or brand?
or seen this motion issue in person?

Would turning on true motion etc fix the sport issue?

I think many people just want to know if it is good for TV shows, movies and games..

Surely the hisense OLED for less is a better buy than this

    • +3

Nah Hisense has gone to shit over the last few years. They used to have really good budget options, now it just seems like they're phoning it in badly.

Anyway, just because it's an OLED doesn't make it automatically good. Many more factors go into it. The processing and everything that goes on behind the panel is more important.

      • -1

I don't disagree, but TCL are lower tier also so it's not like comparing to a more premium brand where the processing is going to be leagues ahead. Had nothing but issues with TCL myself, not necessarily failures but weird bugs and quirks that detract day to day.

        • +2

TCL isn’t a lower tier anymore, their new QM8 has better motion processing than the Sonys

          • @cille745: I thought Sonys are way up there with their XR Cognitive.

Where does TCL C845 lose out to other brands?

  • Was after this one but ended up getting Samsung QN90.
Had an LG Oled B7 after 5 years lots of burn in so didn't want to risk it again.

    • Are you happy with your choice?

      • Yeah no regrets at all.
If you want the best but don't want the risk of burn in, this is the tv to get.
Can go for qn95 but i dont think there is much difference.

  • Saw the 65" in store at JB. Looks like great value. Not sure what real day to day performance will be like though. Thinking of getting the 55" version as a cheaper alternative to OLED. Also not sure about power consumption…the 65" version has poor energy rating. Not able to find much info on these online yet. Not even on rtings

  • +2

Appliance Central has these cheaper with free shipping for me (VIC metro).
    * 55" $1,330
    * 65" $1,799
    * 75" $2,630
    * 85" $3,430

Edit: Looks like they don't deliver 85" to my area

  • +4
    • Ah wow. I thought I was getting a good deal at $1380 just a few days ago. Box not even opened yet and it's down to $1230 for the 55". Sigh. Thanks for posting though - great deal. I was hoping to get the 2022 Sony OLED but with the price difference, this seems like great value. They do take a bit more power though. Scores a 9.8 on https://www.kitele.com/en/tv-tcl-55c845 for price to value.

      • how is your free to air on this TV?
cricket isnt as clear as an older TCL i had which is strange

  • +1

I can only imagine JB-Hifi, Appliancesonline.com.au, Harvey Norman, GGs and Joyce Mayne are holding-out bringing the 2023 model C8(4)5 on the floor until after July 1..(limited stores are holding stock) I think Bing Lee has it in stock.

  • No one delivers to Warilla NSW :(

  • +1
