Vancouver Airport is great to transfer through, and you get to clear US Customs and Immigration in Vancouver without needing to clear Canadian customs, follow the "USA Connections" sign to the US In-Transit Facility and you are shaving quite some time off your arrival - as you will be arriving as a US domestic flight.

Hah, I very nearly wrote this but it was a while ago and I couldn't quite remember/wasn't sure if it was still a thing. When I did do it it was SO much nicer than doing that in LA too!

      • The reverse direction (ie USA->OZ), however, requires you to clear Canadian immigration and then immediately get escorted back to the airside transit via special doors (or at least that’s what happened in ~2018). Depending on nationality, might require a transit visa

  • On a Skytrax 4-star airline

Come on, you know that's baloney the uninformed person wouldn't pick up on. Skytrax is paid consultancy fees to "review" airlines. It's disreputable.

It's not nicknamed Scamtrax for no reason.

  • is there an option to do a stopover in vancouver with this airline?

    • +1

Just using the sliders i can see a 12 hour stopover option from 11am to 7pm, which is quite nice to get out and see the city. Skytrain is a cheap way downtown.

      Try multibooking

  • Any way to do YVR return only? Searching for this is more like ~$1550. Thx for the deals btw. :)

  • Would I be able to use this deal to just stay in Vancouver? The current return flights are at least 1.6k and this is way cheaper

    • It would only work if you are after a 1 way flight to Vancouver. As soon as you miss the connecting flight the rest of your tickets will be cancelled. There is also usually a provision to charge you the standard fare if you skip the flight but that very rarely happens in practice.

    • You could fly to lax (via yvr), then board a flight back to yvr later that day (maybe next day depending on schedules) and use yvr as a stopover point. Not the best way to do it but it can be done.
