This is a pretty good deal for a Pan & Tilt Wifi Camera, I paid a full price for these a couple of years ago and they have worked perfectly ever since.
They are simple to install, and the Genio App is easy to use.
At this clearance price I grabbed a few more and thought I'd share this deal as there's still quite a few stores with stock.
UPDATED 24/6/20 20:55 Most metro stores appear to have now sold out, just a few country stores left with stock now.

    Mine says 42 :(

Enter postcode for clearance prices to show

  • comes out 42, am i missing something

    • not great with math but might be missing around $6 if you take the (no) deal

    • I'm getting $36. Might be location based?

    • Enter a postcode, then the price comes down.

      • They can even bring it down to a dollar, no stock anywhere

  • It is 36 now lol but no stocks :(

  • +1

Def $36 for me, triple checked. And stock in many stores in SE Queensland.

    • I’m in SE QLD and no stock in city and surrounding areas

    • Yep, $36 on the Goldy, good product too, I have a different one of the same brand as a baby monitor, works well, might get an extra.

  • Shows $42 for me

  • Before I posted this there were many stores around the country with stock showing, 20 minutes later I reckon its almost all gone except for a few country stores.

Enjoy your new cams for those that got them.

Id be a bit careful with these, they look to be very similar to generic chinese cameras where in the past they have had known backdoors/security issues

    • Does this apply to the tp link range?

      • +3

Realistically this applies to any internet connected device. If you want security, an NVR camera setup would be your best option. But you wouldnt be able to access it anywhere unless its internet connected.

        • So there's still security risks/flaws even if we only use sd card as storage (connected to wifi) and don't use their online cloud storage?

          • +1

@OzBoganYeah: There's a lot of ways of isolating the traffic so it can't dial home. I personally separate my cameras on a different VLAN and they can't dial home.

        • This is the way.

WiFi security cameras are easily defeated, can't imagine most burglars are carrying around wifi deauthers but still

That means live monitoring by Xi Jinping. I wonder if he will send out members of the CCP to arrest anyone that breaks into my house?

      • +2

Only if you make regular donations to CCP or become a lifetime member of CCP.
CCP first class service is restricted to VIP only. Standard Aussies, we are just pawns.

      • +2

Depends on your social credit score.

      • +10

Xi Jinping doesn't need to live monitor you, because he's already living in your head rent free.

  • Stock in Katoomba, and a few near newcastle and raymond terrace.

  • Thanks OP

I bought a Genio smart bulb and it's shit: it was very hard to pair it initially and it uses a very unintuitive app that now requires an account and all sorts of weird permissions just to set up that bulb. Worst $5 spent!

I have a very different experience with mine! I've got three full RGB/white bulbs of various sizes and love them! Connecting with Google and Alexa and works a charm. Initial connection was the hardest part, but the timing of their on/off flickering to connect is difficult to match, finding a video helped a ton!

My entire home lighting is fitted with Genio lights and they work perfectly and take a around 2 minutes to set up.
I've probably got around 50 downlights and other Edison types and have all been very simple to set up and reliable.
I have also linked them up to Alexa which is easy to do.
Are you sure you bought Genio as none of their lights are $5 (not even at half price)?

      • Have you figured out a way to have the power on state be bright white, rather than the last state they were even if that was 1% brightness and red coloured? That's my main complaint with them.

        • That's the main advantage, who wants it defaulting to bright white when it next starts up?

If you do want the default to be bright white you can set up a power off automation that sets the lamp state to 255 white just after it powers off the lamp state. Then it will start as that the next time it turns on.

Generally I try to tune the lamp brightness to the right level to fit in with other bulbs and the scenario - less than full brightness (and so saving power) - and then just leave it there.

          • @sane: I don't run HA or anything, how do I set that as an automation? Or not possible with the Mirabella app?

The reason I want it to default to bright white on power on is because I don't want to have to use my phone to turn the lights on properly, or need a guest to ask me to operate the lights for them, when they should be able to hit a switch and the light works. Most other lights have this as a setting in the app, eg tp link.

For instance will often do 1% red when I'm in bed winding down, which is essentially off in anything other than pitch black.

            • @snoopydoop: You can set automations in the genio app.

However if you are using the switch to control them then obviously there's no effective control - you are treating them as a dumb bulb.

Thing to note is that most/all Tuya devices can be controlled by any equivalent app - so it might be worth seeing if the tp-link app will deliver the functionality you want to the bulbs you have. There might be hidden functionality that the Genio app doesn't expose.

              • @sane: Interesting, I'll look into trying a different app, thanks!

Nah, mostly use google assistant or my phone to control them, but I do want the ability to use the lightswitch effectively too, so that guests or whatever can use as a dumb bulb

  • Cheers OP, managed to order one, now to see if they honor it.

I'm now considering a 400km round trip to Bathurst so I can save $6.

  • 1) Online Only Price
    2) Looks like no stock in a lot of stores listed in Sydney region.

  • Picked up 2 ordered from North Albury, saw they had 3 more on the shelf in store at $36 too so it isn't online only. Grabbed a 3rd one and left 2 on the shelf.

  • This is the old style and mine died after a year (stuck on what seems to be a boot cycle and no way I can find to fix it), probably wouldn't recommend unless you get it for super cheap.

  • Thanks. Have one already, like OP paid full price and no issues with it, so I’m happy to buy a second at this price.
