2030
BILD-TT-2023

Good morning everyone!! Awesome deal!! Similar to this popular deal from @ dealbot

Steps -
1) launch OP link. Stay in the German site ie don’t change over to Australian site as promo code won’t work. No VPN required.
2) sign up or log in using an existing account. If you’re signing up, you’ll need a German address. If you’re using existing account, you’ll need to migrate your account over to Germany to get the free 12 month extension.
3) download the TomTom Go app to your phone. Sign-in to 'TomTom Services' via 'Settings' to confirm subscription for 1 year.

According to tomtom , the subscription is automatically renewed after 1 year, so don't forget to cancel
You can cancel and still keep your 12 months free subscription.
How to cancel: Go to German website, use google translate to navigate, Go under Subscription and Cancel Subscription.

Benefits over apps such Google Maps:

  • Does not require an active internet connection

TomTom Go is a navigation app that offers a range of features that make it stand out from other navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps. Here are some reasons why TomTom Go is better than Waze and Google Maps:

        1. Accurate maps: TomTom Go has accurate maps that are updated regularly. This means that you can rely on the app to give you the most up-to-date information about traffic conditions, road closures, and other important details.

        2. Advanced features: TomTom Go offers advanced features like lane guidance, speed camera alerts, and voice control. These features make it easier to navigate through unfamiliar areas and help you stay safe on the road.

        3. Offline use: Unlike Waze and Google Maps, TomTom Go can be used offline. This means that you can still use the app even if you don't have an internet connection.

That being said, the choice between these apps ultimately comes down to what each person wants and values . Waze is a strong contender if you want information from the community and updates in real time . But if you want accurate maps, advanced features, and the ability to use the app when you’re not online, TomTom Go may be a better choice .

          @silenthillrocks chatgpt certified answer 🫠

        • Lol
Cut and paste from the website or chatgpt

        • +1

Looks like GMap also has these offline use, voice control, and speed camera.

  • Are there maps of Japan?

  • +1

I prefer the TomTom interface and it integrates well with Apple CarPlay

    • Was going to ask this. I assume it would be useless if the app wouldn’t display on car dash screens.

How do you migrate your country from Australia to Germany if you have an existing account? When I try to change my address the country is locked to Australia and I can't select another value.

    • +1

also having this issue… does anyone know how to move the account to Germany?

  • Just checking step 3

Do I have to sign up to the 7 day trial to get to the setting screen?

Or is there another way to access settings in the app?

    Thanks

    • +2

Same here. I cant go past the 7day trial option on the app

    • Just accept the trial then go into settings and log in with your newly created account. It may still show 1 week trial in the subscription so you will need to close the app completely and then open it up and it will be updated with the 1 year.

    • +3

You only need to tap on car and truck options. Then on the next screen you can select restore subscription.

      • 100% correct. You do not need to start the trial and it is better if you do not start thr trial.

      • I cant see this option in the iphone app

      • You only need to tap on car and truck options

Is this for the android app?

        I dont get this

All I see on launching the app is a seven day trial; If I try anything else I asks if I want to close the app

  • Good find OP! +1

  • +1

Only free for 12 months. I’m thinking they want to try increase the user base to provide more accurate traffic info then will charge once that’s up. Curious where they sell the data to

  • -1

Good app, thank you, got myself a free subscription, excellent. However, Google Maps is more accurate, in my experience, with traffic conditions because there are many more Google users on the roads. GMaps aggregate traffic conditions automatically. It is not the Waze (which also changes over the last few years, in a good way). Google allows downloading offline maps of the area you need, making the storage use efficient. I don't know how good the TT in terms of mobile cameras etc, will give it a try.
    Thank you OP.

Great find! Ein Prosit to such a deal!
When Dr Angela Merkel was at the helm, Germany would never allow Google Streetview.
Now comrade Scholz is busy keeping his leftie girls driving 6 ton fortified Mercs to show how good they are to the environment. Coal power stations and lots of trains without electrification.
Given that they call Germany the Wirtschaftsmotor of Europe their internet literacy is below world average.
So they need internetless apps so their Volkswagens need to go to dealers to have their maps upgraded.

  • I don't have German address, what's the alternative to signup

  • is the only advanatage = SPEED CAMERAZS?

    • Offline maps for entire countries, speed limits on all roads including school zones, detailed lane guidance, and perhaps some more live road closure/obstacle info + road restrictions.

  • +3

Guys I’ve been a paying customer for 4 years with TomTom and I use this over Google. It has offline maps, speeds zones camera alerts which Google lacks.
I’ll continue to use TomTom and pay for it.

  • +1

    tried Waze?

    • Shhh don’t share that it’s such a good app with the community sharing where the cops at love it 👍🏽

  • Thanks OP, bought 12 month of free navigation, Now I can go anywhere :-)

  • +1

What is the difference with this and tom tom amigo?

    • +2

The one OP has is the German edition, the one you refer is the Mexico edition….j/k. :p

    • AmiGo has less detailed voice instructions (I think) and doesn't have offline maps. A bit like Waze. There are heaps of alerts and preferences to fine tune in TomTom Go and it has 3D lane visuals that are helpful for complicated junctions and off-ramps.

  • I am not able to finalize the purchase through Paypal. I tried multiple times on desktop and mobile. No luck.

  • +1

    Awesome deal

Really? What is so great about this offer that google maps, apple maps and waze (which has been free all this time) does not offer? Also does this integrate with car's heads up navigation?

      • +1

        Okay thanks for the links.

        • There is plenty of road works happening where I live and surrounding suburbs and both apple / google maps seem to do a great job of providing directions around them
        • Both of the native apps allow offline map data for regions you're in (not entire country, but entire country map data wont be much useful for me though)
        • +1

use what's good for you, if you are happy with what you got, just FUNTASTIC !!
(though, you seem to be using two different apps…) whatever..

          • @abbots: I almost always use apple maps while driving (integrates well into Carplay and heads up display's navigation panel for iPhone). Google maps is for other things such as looking up business information/ places to eat or so, etc.

      • Also worth mentioning is the brilliant route planner, MyDrive, which I will be using to follow Route 66 in the USA next year. Of all the GPS apps I have tried, this is the only one that has stuck to the exact route I programmed and didn't try to reroute me to the quickest way once it was connected to Android Auto.

        • always wanted route selection option for" ëa"siest route"such as least amount of turns/more straight roads ..
          and not fidgety backroads

theres a business opportunity if anyone listening

          • @capslock janitor: Talking about business opportunities, I want an app to take a photo of all my receipts and put it in categories in date order to use for tax return purposes.
If someone is listening, that's a good business opportunity.

    • it does integrate with AA head units - though, not yet fully complete, not all functions currently work through AA screen - but works well, voice entry, calendar address, etc

  • Thank you OP for sharing, can we cancel the subscription now and used for 12 months or we need to wait before expiry to cancel?

    • +1

You can cancel now and still keep your 12 months free subscription.

  • It seemed to work. How do i cancel the subscription

  • This is excellent.
Will be travelling overseas with limited data - this gives a global map.
    Cheers!

  • Here we go - developed by Nokia, always free with offline navigation…..no subscription required

  • I couldn't find where to cancel subscription, anyone can help? Thanks a lot.

    • +2

You have to do it through the website. Click on your account and select subscriptions. There is an option to cancel there.

      • Thanks a lot. I just firgured out that I need cancel it in German website.

  • I was able to do step 2 and 3. However, it ask me to join a free trial for 7 days on iphone or pay for subscription and use a card linked to apple id. I cannot get it to the screen of settings. Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

    • +1

Tap Restore Purchases, put in your iCloud password, wait for it to fail, then tap Log In.

  • You can download maps for offline use

  • Once we get it going how do we cancel it in the German site? (I'm assuming it won't void the subscription?)

  • I CANT READ GERMANE

    • Top right of website the three dots —> and then click translate

  • UI is not so appealing

    • The app detects where i am currently at and download the map at the start. Pretty similar to the Google Maps off-line usage so I think this app doesn’t offer anything new. I am pretty sure it might not be able to navigate me in an area outside of the map I downloaded. So the functionality is exactly same as the Google Maps.

      • You can download entire countries in settings

  • +1

Don't forgot to pay with Paypal, after completed the whole procedue, go to https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/autopay/ to cancel the TOMTOM automatic payments on Paypal.

  • There was an error creating an account. Please try again.

    What an I doing wrong?
I add to the cart. Next page asks for email. I put it in, create a new password, then get this error.

Edit: turns out I had an account from YEARS ago. Changed country.
    Went to cart.
Added coupon to cart (before going to login/checkout screen). Have to click a little expand button to show the location. Cart should show €0.
    Checkout ut using PayPal.
    Install and launch app.
    See Car and Truck Plans
    CLICK Restore Purchases
    Login on the next screen.
    Fin.

Not worth it, even if free.

Vote with your software choices and choose open source offerings, they're fantastic in this day and age.

    • +1

Any suggestions on open map app?

      • I'm not them but OsmAnd which someone else linked is the best in that regard, and Sygic uses the same open source database along with Maps.Me

      • Mapfactor Navigator, amongst others.

Lots of options. You might not like the OSM interface on the OSM specific app… you can alter the display interface, though.

  • @Scrooge McDeal
    Thank you!
I use the app on my Android head unit.
I find it much better than TomTom Amigo, Google Maps or Waze.

  • Thanks Op! Gave me an extra month when I logged into the app

  • +2

Great deal. I have used TT since almost the 1st week they entered Australia and cannot get to grips with using another brand or even maps (live traffic is rubbish) . Now Tomtom have left the Aussie market i am clinging onto my main unit hoping the updates never run out or live services stop however i will give the app a go as well.

Worked perfectly with the OP instructions

  • Nothing beats free - so, great deal here!

However, after I downloaded the WA map and got all up and running on the subscription, Inoticed that mostly none of very basic points of interests are being found through voice search.

For example: the search function never finds any Coles, nor Wollies, or any other POI's.

    I'm using Android.

What's the trick in finding the basics through the voice function as the entire app is entirely useless otherwise.

    • hmm, it should work..?
      I use TT on Android car radio, directly running app, click search, click microphone (mike on the keyboard, I think? there is another one), speak towards car radio, get result;
I use TT on AA car radio, click search/mike on steering wheel, speak, get result

NOW, with current AA it doesn't parse correctly at this time; if I say '1 george st sydney', no issues
if I say 'sydney opera house' it may or may not parse correctly between name and address, current workaround, once target revealed, read street address, speak now street address, hopefully that will get fixed soon.
(haven't tried voice entry on phone, as it's simpler to finger select on map)

  • Good deal

  • you get email from Tomtom like this when you cancel it:

    Just FYI

We have seen that you have just cancelled your subscription to the TomTom service. We think that's a shame.

  • I get this message when i attempt to cancel:
    Are you sure?
    to take a risk
I understand that I will not receive TomTom GO Navigation app for 12 months which may result in speeding fines.
    safety first
Keep the TomTom GO Navigation app activated for 12 months to remain well informed and avoid speeding fines.

  • Expired now. Only worked until end of July 2023.
