[NSW] Free: EV Test Drive Day at Sydney Motorsport Park 6th July (NSW Government Staff Only) - Book via Try Booking

112

Are you a NSW Government employee or do you know somebody that is?

Invite them to this event to test drive a range of different EVs

If you are not a NSW government employee, keep an eye out for NRMA EV Drive Days

Did you know your next work trip could be done in an electric vehicle (EV)?

NSW Government is transitioning our fleet to EVs. Here’s why:

• EVs are the future. The number of EVs purchased in Australia increased by 86 per cent last year, with 3.8 per cent of all new cars purchased being electric.
• EVs aren’t only cheaper to run but provide an exciting new driving experience.
• Battery electric vehicles do not produce tailpipe emissions and are better for the environment and our health.

Test drive some EVs at the drive day for NSW Government employees and fleet managers.

What's on:
• Test drive EVs from a range of manufacturers
• Learn about the NSW Government’s EV transition journey and EV charging.
• Talk to the experts from various organisations showcasing electric passenger and commercial vehicles.
• Networking lunch between 12pm – 1pm.

When: Thursday 6 July 2023
Time: Morning session: 9am – 1pm. Afternoon session: 12pm – 4pm.
Where:  Sydney Motorsport Park, Ferrers Rd, Eastern Creek NSW 2766 (Enter Gate A). Free parking available onsite.
Cost: Free for all NSW Government staff.

With limited test drive spots available, bookings are strongly recommended. (Must use your 'nsw.gov.au' email address to sign up as non-government email addresses will be rejected)
Please note, drivers must be 21 years or over and hold a valid, unrestricted licence.

Don’t want to drive? You can still come along to chat to our expert stall holders and check out the EVs on display.

    NSW Government Staff Only

Do you mind posting it on your Intranet?

  • +13

    Aren't test drives free anyway..

    • -1

This is on a Thursday. No doubt APS employees are getting paid to thrash EVs.

  • +7

Couldn't you just go to a dealer and test drive an EV?

    • +2

Yeah but the bulls**t you have to go through with them…….

    • +4

You mean, couldn’t you make appointments with multiples dealers and attend over a few days to test drive the range of EV’s ?
Or come and see them all at one place !

    • +1

Will the dealer take you to the Sydney Motorsport Park?

    • Know any dealers with a racetrack?

  • May be they are promoting the free lunch 🤔

  • Anything to skip a day of work

  • If partner government employee can I use her details ?

    • +1

No, you need to dress up and look the same as she does in her ID

  • +4

NRMA put on ev drive days throughout the year, next one is on 15-16 July in Wollongong. No need to be a gov employee.

Time to put in your best quali lap

  • +2

wheres the bargain here? test drives are free already…

  • +1

Shouldn’t the tax payer get to test it after all they are the ones paying for it.

    • Probably paid for by EV manufacturers. To convince NSW government to spend even more money buying them. So yes either way taxpayer money.

    • +3

That's why I try on my kids clothes when I take them shopping, rather than letting them. Because the important thing is who is paying, not getting something for for purpose.

  • -3

Cool, Oz goes to sh..t whilst the government is test driving EV’s. Fantastic!

    • +1

I guess things would be different if you were in charge. No test driving vehicles before purchase would definitely improve the country and solve all issues.

  • +1

Skid pan and drag track included?

  • +2

Hahaha, poor NSW tax payers forking out for track days.

  • +4

How is this a bargain? What's MSRP? How many people here can obtain this "deal"?

This belongs to employees intranet, not here.

    • -1

      what makes you in charge??

  • +1

    I've never paid for a test drive…

    • -2

Well now as a tax payer you have. Paying again in 5-10 years trying to dispose of them.

  • Just another nrma drive day……..

  • Targeted.

  • Better for the environment? Debatable. Plenty of video's outlining how the multiple transport and mining emissions may be comparable to a petrol car, not to mention the replacement battery.

    • The carbon footprint and environmental impact of EVs vary depending on a lot of factors. So it's pretty debatable that this ultimately is better for the environment. That coupled with higher upfront costs compared to ICE cars of similar class (eg. Corollas or whatever) as well as shorter lifecycle of vehicles based on that battery.

I think we all know this is more of a PR exercise - "look, we're going all EVs and saving the environment" (while throwing away our currently perfectly fine fleet of economical ICE cars), and also a move heavily paid for by money from EV manufacturers vying for market share.

  • Will PwC staff working on government contracts be invited?

  • And what EV would you like to go for a test drive around our race track in sir?
Do you have a Tesla Model S Plaid with the Nurburgring record option pack of stickier tyres and big brakes?

    • +1

Do you have a Tesla Model S Plaid with the Nurburgring record option pack

No, cause that legend in his own bathwater decided it was too hard to put the steering wheel on the right side of the cabin.

  • Tell em you're a train driver, left your ID at Centeal.
