Received an email from Amazon after browsing around at Photoshop software. Reads as follows:

Dear Amazon.com Customer,

Customers who have shown an interest in photo- and video-editing software at Amazon.com might like to know about this offer:

Today only, save 50% on digital downloads of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 10. This offer is only valid on August 27, 2012, while supplies last.

It dropped to this price about a week ago - after I already bought it - but still got the email for some reason.

According to CamelCamelCamel it is as cheap as it has ever been - http://camelcamelcamel.com/Adobe-Photoshop-Elements-Premiere…

Of course need to add that you will need to use a US Billing Address to get it to work.

Edit: Of course forgot to put price in title.

This is a good deal but I found these tools to be unsuitable for my purposes.

I tried these because the full versions seemed overwhelming for what I considered simple tasks.

I would say if you have a particular end result or vision in mind for your images or videos and want the tools to get there these will not suffice. If you wish to be hand-held through a programme to a great looking product without anything specific in mind then they're great.

Too many times I tried to do something that seemed straightforward and ironically it just turned easier to do it in the full programmes.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 is pretty good, its a nice improvement from PSE7 although it still likes to randomly crash upon simply launching it - though once you're actually in the program its pretty stable. For the things I use it for its better than the 15x more expensive Adobe alternative (I don't use it for 3D, only photos)

I've tried Premiere Elements but always found its UI confusing in comparison to iMovie, though if you don't have an Apple device your choices are pretty limited aside from Windows Movie Maker/that $700 Sony program

Good deal. I don't think this diminishes the value of this, but according to some blogs Adobe like to release new versions of elements in September. Just keep in mind when buying that a new version may be around the corner.
