      gud soize

  • -4

Wow. That's… not cheap. I get they're good, but wow.

    • -2

      If they last 30 years?

      • +8

You'll need to spend a swag of bucks to keep the soles and elastics serviceable every decade or so

      • +5

August is the ten year mark for me, and that means it is time for a new pair that I buy every x0th birthday.
Do I pull the trigger now or wait out in the hope for a better deal between now and then? To answer, I think I will wait just a leetle but longer.

And yes, sole replacement once, heel replacement about three times. That said the sole and heel needs replacing now.

        • +3

They don't really get cheaper than this now.

        • -1

Go for it now. The prices will go up on the 1st of July. My guess is RRP of 700

        • If the sole needs replacing and you're going to replace the boot soon anyway, then I would jump on this. Sole and heel aint cheap. I can't remember exactly, but last time I had it done it was around $200 and a few weeks turnaround.

      • -2

        They don't though

    • +6

I bought a pair of Comfort Craftsmen in 2017.

Without exaggeration, I wore them nearly every day in my 4-month world travel (across Europe and North America - lots of walking) and every day at work since 2018 (I'm a teacher and on my feet a lot).

They have been incredibly comfortable. They need to be re-soled (last few months I've noticed the wearing of the sole) but have otherwise been the best and most economical boots I've worn. $500 from David Jones in mid-2017 to now - formal and casual occasions.

I just bought myself another pair (different colour) and hoping to have the same experience.

      • +1

        As comfortable as runners?

        • Also want to know

        • +1

Not quite, theyre heavier and the sole is firmer which contributes to their longevity.

As far as dress shoes go they are very comfortable once you have worn them in.

    • +2

I agree with you, you could buy 4 sets of hush puppies for the price of one of them. It's just a new Ozb craze.

Plus there are tons of barely used try to offload them in fb marketplace.

And they need to be perfect fit or very uncomfortable to wear.

      • My hushpuppy casual shoes already tore in just over one year, at that point, I wish I could have squeezed more value out of them.

        • I buy them for a round $80, with one year use, I'm okie with that, fresh new shoe every year.

    • They're RM Williams? They're not meant to be cheap?

  • +4

The shoes wouldn't be complete without the overnight bag.

    • +1

Well I already got an addiction to pokies and Friday night early knock off drinks, might as well collect the set

  • +1

    HEYICONIC75 doesn't stack

  • Why do these look like both factory boots and office shoes

    • +3

Because they're in a grey category called "Factorfice Shoboots"

    • +1

Lol you'd never see yuppie shoes like this on the jobsite

  • Thanks! Been eyeing out a pair for ages waiting for a sale. Ordered!

  • +9

    Thanks, bought 10.

  • +1

Wish they had dynamic flex rms!

    • +1

IMO dynamic flex sucks. Get the rubber comfort soles.

      • +3

ive got a brown pair and I like them, think they are very comfy. I want a black pair and I want them to be the same so I wear them equally!

        • +2

Fair enough. Everyone's foot is a bit different and ultimately you should buy whats best for you. I have both the comfort soles and the dynamic flex (and a few other sole variants). I wont be buying the dynamic flex again as I've found them to be significantly less durable.

    • Same here. But Dynamic Flex ain't ever going to come on sale it seems to me so bit the bullet and got me the rubber soles. At least that's how I am interpreting "Sole: Synthetic". Thanks OP.

      • Rubber is pretty good. So is dynamic flex, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with rubber.

        • Wearing it now. You are right!

  • Cant holdout any longer, bought one this time.

  • Thanks got 1.

  • No wide fit 9 black :-(

  • -1

Wow Nearly $500. Last time had a pair was when I was 6 years and my mother brought them for me when was riding sh!tland pony

  • -2

what the heck, ppl pay this much for boots???

    • +10

Yes, people pay this much for things they like.

  • Have a pair of dynamic flex. What’s the matching size for comfort craftsman?

Dynamic flex has the ortho insole inside. Dynamic flex has the ortho insole, so to my understanding I need to size lower for the CC. 0.5 size?

    • +1

I have both a Comfort and Dynamic Flex in the same size (7.5G)

The Dynamic Flex wears slightly tighter and if I were to re-purchase I would go half a size up for the Dynamic Flex

      • Yeah that's what I thought. Thanks

  • +1

Can you return instore if they don't fit properly ?

    • +1

      following

    • +1

Something I did was went to a store and got fitted, and then kept a notepad file on mobile to what that size was.

    • can't return, but can change size as long as within the same style + colour iirc

      • Yea that’s what I meant sorry

      • +1

do you need to take it to an Iconic store or can you take it to an RM store? I cant find any Iconic stores in WA

        • You can take it to a RM Store in Perth.

    • +2

I was denied an exchange in store last ozb sale after told on the phone it was possible by the store. I guess it depends on the retail assistant and store's own policy.

Store was Miranda Westfield's and they were quite cynical of me and the whole Iconic sales/exchanges thinking people were picking up any sizes on sale and exchanging at stores.

      YMMV

      • +1

When I changed my size after the last Iconic deal, the RM store had to write up a virtual sale of the new boots at the price I paid Iconic. It's a bit of a process, so lazy staff are probably gonna fob you off.

    • +1

Received my pair today and was able to exchange size in store with no issue at all. They measured me up and was in and out in 10 mins.

  • How do you measure? I don't think they have a store near me :(

    • +2

Go to rm page, it’s very straight forward and accurate

      • The online measuring tool didn't work for me. Maybe user error. I went in store to get measured.

  • Wide fits are all gone….sigh

Edit: F it! Still got a regular fit. Was really looking for a black pair.

  • No size 9.
    Ughhh

  • +1

My old pair are a Size 10 H, does that mean I go 10.5 on the Iconic site for the same fit, as the H is the wide fit?

  • also works for craftsman as well

  • Got a pair in 8.5G chestnut. No size 8 :(

    • Yeah me too, hoping it's not a noticeable difference

      • can always swap size in store

        • apparently stores are starting to become a lot stricter on that policy (eg within a size only, so 8.5g->8g is probably fine) or not doing it at all. ymmv

          • +1

@lachlantula: oh really? i just bought a rough size and was planning on exchanging it in store if it didn't fit..

            • @titanity: try your luck! worst case ultimately you can just return it via iconic i suppose. theres been a lot of chatter on ozb abt it in these threads and, indeed, my mum bought a new pair herself following this thought process and was told over the phone she cant but in person i guess she got someone different and they did it (with similar caveats to what i mentioned).

  • +2

    Tempted….Have chestnut.
    Dark tan or black?

    • +4

Dark tan is quite nice imo.
The mrs’s black pair is quite rich and deep too.
      I reckon get both.

    • +2

Get the black. I've got the chestnut and black. Black for work looks pretty schmick.

    • Dark Tan is the goods. Love Dark Tan.

  • When will this deal run till? Would buy now but looking to try on sizes in-store first thing tomorrow to make sure.

    • I believe the coupon is until 30/6.

  • Thanks OP! Great deal!

  • I have the Dynamic flex in a 7.5G. How do these fit in comparison?

  • Woo! Finally got em, thanks OP

  • +1

Thanks OP. Finally pulled the trigger after many years of taking measurement in-store. With Shopback 3% tracked, it's $440.67. Hope the size is correct.

  • +1

word of warning. ordered a pair of craftsman last time and they sent a pair with scratches. i had to do a replacement to get a new pair.

  • Anyone know where I can get a discount on the signature boots?

  • for everyone saying i can exchange/return in store, they dont have any stores in WA right?

    • +1

according to a quick google search .. it seems like there are a couple in perth?

      • do you mean stores for rm or the iconic? I know we definitely have a few for rm but I can't find any for the iconic. If you are referring to rm williams, are shoes purchased through the iconic exchangeable at the rm stores?

        • oh, rm. iconic is online only! in regards to exchanging..

          • +1

@lachlantula: In March I purchased from the iconic:

            R.M.Williams
            Craftsman Boots - Men's chestnut
Size: AU 11.5 regular (NOTE - NOT comfort craftsman)

I called ahead to the Claremont Quarter RMW store and the manager permitted me to swap for men’s chestnut AU 11 WIDE COMFORT craftsman.

I guess I was lucky being allowed to swap style (to the CC), width and size.

To be fair, I explained the situation that my wife bought them for me so the sizing wasn’t perfect. I also had a wedding to attend that weekend and the folks were sympathetic that there’s no way Iconic could get me the right boots over in Perth within 3 days…

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • Can I use gift card after applying the coupon code please? Thanks.

    • +1

      Yes you can.

    • Yeah or shopback

  • Any deal anywhere for the dynamic flex?

  • Been looking at getting a pair of the black CC. Anyone know the difference between the first black CC and the second ones?

    https://www.theiconic.com.au/comfort-craftsman-666661.html

    • +2

The second ones look like they are nubuck leather which is not glossy and more prone to marking. Go for the gloss ones for daily wear or nubuck for dress use/personal preference.

  • The Apple of work shoes.

      Big4 uniform

  • Anyone know if the women's cuban heel ever goes on sale? Iconic only has one women's boot and Gooley's just do mens.
