"You can save 10% if you or a family member purchases a TID policy before December 31, 2008 regardless of where or when you are travelling."

Email was sent out to previous customers but I'm sure the voucher code would work for any one placing an order on their website.

  • I have to give this a negative sorry

Its just my opinion, and I have never needed the travel insurance I have taken out.

But if its underwritten by allianz, why not go straight to allianz itself?

    http://www.allianz.com.au/allianz/travel+insurance.html

Gives you the option to customise the policy etc.

  • its actually cheaper to go through travel insurance direct.
you can use moneyback co, and there are some other discount codes available on ozbargain as well.
So really why go through allianz ;)

  • I know I sound cranky here's what I mean

    Australia - family - 18-30 Nov

    travel insurance direct $107 (pre-discount) - EXCESS $100
    Cancellation Costs $20,000
    Additional Expenses $20,000
    Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess $4,000
    Return of Rental Vehicle $500
    Snow Skiing Piste Closure $1,000
Snow Skiing and/or Golfing Benefits $400
Snow Skiing and/or Golfing Equipment Replacement $400
    Accidental Death $20,000
    Personal Liability $1,000,000
    Luggage and Personal Effects $8,000

    Allianz - $82 NO EXCESS
Cancellation Fees and Lost Deposits - unlimited
    Additional expenses - $100,000
    Accidental death - $50,000
Luggage and personal effects - $10,000
    Travel Delay $2,000
    Personal Liability 5 million
Rental $3000 (this is actually where it falls down slightly) - although it also covers the return at 3K too
    Domestic Pets $500
    Domestic Services $500

Thought long and hard, but still a neg - sorry :( - mind you I don't snow or golf

    • As you mentioned, Travel Insurance Direct also have their Snow related and sports related travel insurance websites and policies. Most skiers/snowboarders heading to USA, Japan and Europe get their insurance through TID whose rates are cheaper then Allianz equivelant.

  • I just did some comparisons for a single traveller. For my trip to Asian in March.

    TID - $62 with discount
    Allianz - $80 !!

So yeah, just because its underwritten by Allianz doesn't mean Allianz is cheaper (all the time).

  • I needed travel insurance earlier in the year and TID was the cheapest. Although I didn't make a claim but I still recommend it on the price alone.

  • Thumbs up for TID. since i cant vote for this deal.
