I have had one of these for a fair few years. Still going strong. They are meant to potentially go out of calibration after a while, but recently a mate bought a new breatho so I blew in mine and then in his and there was only a .002 difference so I’m happy with that.
Great for if you go to the pub for a couple with mates or around a mates place and have a couple of beers. Quick puff in the breatho before you leave and you know whether to wait a bit longer or go. Awesome if you rely on having your licence for work.
Also shows how much difference water makes. You can blow quite high, drink a whole lot of water and blow again and you can be very close to 0 temporarily.
the idea sounds good, but how accurate are they really? As in, were they ever calibrated?
Exactly why for me, if I am up anywhere close to .05, I’ll take that as being over and just wait around. I would trust it enough to take that risk.
It’s good for the next morning as well, pretty amazing how high BAL you can have after a big night, even though you will feel relatively ok.
