    Great prices, just fair warning if shit hits the fan in Cairns there is quite literally nothing to do for the first few hours of your arrival, then the extremely overpriced cafe opens. We got unlucky I guess, but it was about 8 hours before we could get from Cairns to Sydney, would've copped it on the chin in Japan but 8 hours wait for a 3 hour flight was killer.

    If you can go in with the expectation that the trip is gonna suck because its Jetstar then its actually not too bad, fantastic even if there are no hurdles along the way. Our cabin crew were abysmally bad.

        Well thats good to know, although idk if this is the same for all jetstar flights, but we weren't cleared from customs til Sydney, so we were stuck in the terminal that entire time, it was a bit painful I have to say, I would've tried to rent a car for a couple hours and gone to a proper brekkie.

          2 enjoyable short walks, close to the airport. Renovated last year.
          Done it a few times while waiting at Cairns Airport - flying to Osaka on Jetstar.

          But was flying from Cairns after a few days break there. Cairns was then the cheapest departure point (<$400ret) for flights to Osaka.
          Love Kansai region.

      My parents flew through Cairns from Sydney and they cancelled the Cairns - Tokyo leg and rebooked for the following day….when they were at the airport for a 6:10am departure!
      It meant they had to pay for last minute accommodation to stay a night in Cairns and lose a night in Japan. It was the 6th cancellation in 2 years with Jetstar for flights I had booked. And it is always on the way to the airport or when you're there! You would've thought i'd learned my lesson earlier. But now, no matter how cheap their fare, I will never fly with them again.

    Not against op but 831 from sydney with jetstar is a bit meh considering other airlines offer below 1k as well. I dont mind taking risk with jetstar with their programs such friend or kids fly free which around $500 last time ;p

      Sorry I don't have any answers, I'm also in the same boat as you. We've just been scanning skyscanner and iwantthatflight and google travel but we've already been seeing prices creep up these past 2 weeks and are wondering if there's any benefit to waiting any longer or should just sort it out immediately.

        Yeah, I'm wondering that myself. I went over the same period earlier this year but 2 weeks before flying out.
        I decided to keep an eye on Ozbargains over the next month to see the trend.
        Hoping to book at sub $1000 return.

          Yeah I'm not optimistic. We're looking at 12th dec to the 3rd jan and the jetstar experience looks like it's sitting around $1700 if not more. Add 1k for direct flights. Hope you have better luck than I am and let me know if you find a real zinger!

    finally prices are truly back to pre covid if u take in account inflation. i would rather fly a japanese airline imho for extra like 200 bucks. much better value

    Don't do it unless you live in Cairns..

    Just pay extra to go direct.
