Kinda pushing the Zingers. Easier than having good tasting chicken?

    • +4

must've recently found a cheaper supplier

    • +6

Really? Bacon and Cheese Zingers are great (for a mega chain burger) - that's with their mayo and not that crap super charged sauce.

    • +4

If zinger isn't good tasting chicken then what is?

      • -7

I'm not talking about the recipe just the actual quality of the chicken. Mainly as the last KFC I bought just tasted of detergent not chicken, I presume the chemicals they cool it in. The Zinger coating is still too much for me though, can't taste anything else.

        • +9

Never experienced that. Definitely not a common KFC issue in my experience

If zinger is too spicy for you I am sorry :(

          • +29

@DiscountForThee: I get that people have different levels of spice tolerance, but if someone can't handle a zinger, spicy food just isnt for them, because its at most a 2/10 in terms of spiciness haha

              • +32

@tonka: Not an ambassador for KFC. Im just required by ozbargain to say I work there lol

I wrote "haha" about something pretty innocuous (the level of spice of a zinger burger, the 'haha' was not directed at you); and you called me a creep for that. How thin can your skin possibly be?

Why are you ordering a zinger in the first place if you know you have a spice intolerance? What did you think "zinger" meant?

Sorry if you are used to people working in fast food worshipping you but I'm not going to do that. Blocking you.

                  • +11

@tonka: dude chill, kfc guy clearly wasn't trying to make fun of you lol, but now you're.

                  • +5

@tonka: Are you new to the internet? Plenty of people who put haha and lol to end messages lol

                    • -6

@CodeXD: Been on the net since the nineties. So can you explain exactly what the haha is meant to be. As I've always seen it used as mocking, along with the lmao. And if it is mocking, isn't objecting the correct thing to do?

                      • +11

@tonka: LOL how on earth have you survived on the net since the nineties with such a misunderstanding of such basic things?

                        • -5

@billyb67: And yet you're not explaining it use. I understand laughing is meant to express humor. When there's not a joke in play, then it laughing at a person's expense yes?

                          • +4

@tonka: You seem a little sensitive my guy, I'd stay WELL away from the supercharge sauce for your own safety!

                          • @tonka: haha is actually meant to express that it’s a lighthearted comment, just a bit of fun.

Variation in tolerance to spice levels is a funny topic that people joke and banter about regularly. I have never seen anyone take it personally. Obviously this is a sore point for you, we all have one, but for these innocuous types of things it’s probably wise to let it go.

                      • +1

@tonka: You should be mocked if zinger is too spicy for you

                      • @tonka: Is that you Pam?

                      • +1

@tonka: Mate I've been on the net since the late 90s and I add lol and haha basically in all my comments… Sometimes unnecessarily so because thats what I'm used to after 25+yrs of chatting… As I don't use it mockingly when I see it in other comments I don't read it as I'm being mocked either… It's a major part of online chatting/commenting and has been since the outset…

            • +1

@Vinodra: For me, it's not about 'handling it', it's about simply not enjoying the taste or sensation of hot/spicy foods.

Occasionally I'll end up with a batch of spicy popcorn chicken or nuggets that I reckon was dunked or contaminated by the zinger mix & it just ruins it.

              • @ChristopherJack:

                popcorn chicken or nuggets

These come pre-seasoned / pre-made from the factory and are not battered in store, I doubt this is something that is likely to occur. I don't think nuggets share oil with anything spicy either

            • +2

@Vinodra: Can confirm that zinger is not even slightly spicy.

          • @DiscountForThee: Wow. I am terrible with spicy food and it's never even occurred to me that a Zinger is spicy. I just thought it was their marketing name for 'crunchy texture'.

        • +2

zinger coating is arguably less spicy than standard pepper, I have had more spice from eating a bloody capsicum.

Taste is subjective, however, that cuts both ways.

This is a good deal, that's not really up for debate.

Whether or not you have the tastebuds of a baby? well that isn't really the point.

          • +1

@Bargain Slut: Agree with this. Some people do worse with pepper than with chilli. My kid (3) will knock back kettle chilli chips, mildly spicy curry and stir fry with chilli, but if it’s peppery can’t handle it.

    • +2

had that 'crunch' zinger the other day - the corn chips overpowered the zinger fillet bit lol

      • My corn chips were soggy, so it was more a flexible burger…than crunchy

  • +4

Can anyone recommend a brand that sells a product that is similar tasting to KFC's salt? I haven't been able to find one myself

    • Ward

    • +10

Yeah, Check out Shanez who has a "Kentucky Salt" which is as close as you can come to it without putting a hit on a Yum! delivery driver. Take it from an old, ex-KFC employee who could get it directly.

You’ll need to kidnap and torture the 11 KFC executives who carry a part of the secret recipe each. They never travel on the same plane so it won’t be easy, and they have cyanide capsules in their molars.

      • Only four actually

In 1983, William Poundstone conducted laboratory research into the coating mix, as described in his book Big Secrets, and claimed that a sample he examined contained only flour, salt, monosodium glutamate and black pepper.[17]

    • +2

It's onion salt. Found out when I did one of those kitchen tours… Put me off KFC for a while..

      • +1

Why would onion salt put you off KFC?

        • +4

          #OnionLivesMatter

    • +1

You can buy it in bulk from Costco, it's just onion salt.

  • +11

McDonalds marketing execs be trembling rn. KFC going hard on the deals

  • +2

Should probably be combined with this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784608

    • only the $12 Double Zinger Feast is dupe

      • +3

Same promo though, which is why it would be good to combine the details in them

        • Yeah, I feel like I've now seen these KFC deals like 3 times. I mean at least I definitely know about it now :D

          • +2

@Pub Envelope: The rule on ozb is it can be a new post as long as the deal is not in the previous deal's title.

            • @CodeXD: No idea why mods didn't treat this as a dupe even after the reports… still a dupe right now.

  • Thanks OP

  • -2

Decent deal but not cheapest posted over the years

    • +3

Why do people always point this out?
Should we only post deals when it’s the lowest ever price?

      • I love when ppl Point this out. Keeps me up to date one prices over the years

        • +1

bit of both, doesn't hurt but doesn't always help either.

discounted prices, like rrp's probably need to be adjusted for inflation.

      • +1

With 7% CPI of course things are more expensive than they were years ago - even deals.

  • +2

Me hungry now. Me deal now!

  • +1

Their sides need updating, coleslaw has heaps of sugar, bread rolls trash, popcorn chicken dry.

Love me some buck buck though.

  • +7

I just drove past my local KFC and the drive thru line is 20 deep of Toyota Toragos wtf it's only a dollar zinger

    • +2

Which you can't obtain anyway as the app crashed and local store won't honour.

    • +10

There’s nothing more iconic than burning $5 worth of petrol for a $1 burger.

  • +3

The kfc app is aids, keeps logging me out then times out

  • +2

Wow kfc messed up big time. App couldn't handle the demand and store manager came up with the dumbest excuse saying the promotion ended 2 weeks ago.

  • none of these deals will work if yesterday was any indication

  • I really hope the app works this time,
    We are hungry

  • -1

Why do they force you to go via app? It's unreliable. They didn't honour the last time it failed, deal was unobtainable

    • +1

To promote their app, I would say.

  • +1

Ozadvertising and not delivering on previous deal, therefore negging.

    • +1

There was no issues getting nuggets today.

There are deals for 11 days and KFC clearly underestimated the number of people keen for $1 zinger.

  • 30 nuggets for $10 is live. Doesn't seem to include sauces though. Placed my order no issue.

  • Today is unlike yesterday. No issues getting 30 nuggets for $10, though I‘m still PO‘ed about not getting yesterday’s $1 Zinger.

    • Because the deal is nowhere near as good as $1 zinger. Hopefully they fix it up by the time $1 twister comes around.

      • The $1 twister deal is the deal I most look forward to. Hope they don’t stuff it up.

  • It's a good deal - if it actually worked. Whether there's a really good deal on KFC app the app never works reliable enough to guarantee getting it. The store just go can't help you - that'll be insert normal price here.

  • I dont see the offer in the app, does the offer not include TAS?

    • 3-5pm

      • Ohhh thanks. Totally skipped over that part.

  • Wait. You must buy from 3-5???
That impossible as it’s work hour :(

Can I order and pickup later?

    • sure you can.. if you managed to place a pickup order that is..

      • Didn't have any issues placing order today.

        • yea saw that.. just a bit salty from yesterday :D

  • +2

Bout to Sh#$!t my pants…. twice. thanks OP

  • man how am I going to eat all that food

    • +3

As quickly as possible… before the signal from your stomach gets to your brain

      • +2

        T minus 19 minutes and 55 seconds.

  • Can you guys see the $12 Double Zinger Feast on the KFC App under Promos? I can only see the $24 family burger deal

    • +3

      3-5pm.

  • +1

I don't know if we need this… but it is Friday so….

    • +1

      Whole weekend to recover.

  • So what deal are we getting today?

  • Upgrade to large for $17 and doesnt feel like a deal anymore

    • I'd rather order 2x $12 instead

    • +2

      Then don't upgrade 👍

  • +3

I added the 3 wings for $1 to my cart yesterday or the day before and didn't check out.
Today, app said I already had an offer, so have to remove it. Was surprised to see the deal for $1 in there.
Checkout out and paid my $1, just now, for the 3 wings. Then proceeded to add this to cart and pay for this as well. Two separate orders.
    We shall see!

  • +1

The app is working today 😀

    • +1

$12 Zinger combo vs $1 zinger - not hard to see why lol

      • +3

        it's still incredible value

        • +2

yep but the app wouldn't crash today because I doubt people will be trying to buy 10 times lol

          • +1

@nsingh21: Haha yeah I'm reluctant to buy 1 as I'll be consuming the whole thing, unless my dogs are home!

            • @Bdawg: haha, TBH my appetite is quite big yet I was full just after eating 2 chips, 10nuggs, 1 drink. If you skip the dips, then you won't get full as quick from the nuggs, but still lol…its a lot of food for sure!

Gonna have the zinger burgers for dinner.

  • +2

Looks like better than half price so I guess dinner sorted
