This is one of the highest regarded players to get the most out of your 4K disks, especially if your TV has Dolby Vision.
Possible to price match at JB etc.

Damn, I waited two years to bite the bullet, should have waited another few days :p supposedly the Dolby Vision and the HDR processing on the Pana are excellent. But I expect at this level the improvements are minute enough that you’d need them side-by-side to tell the difference.
Testing mine out today to compare to the Xbox.

Yeah that’s a bit of an issue I’ve got too. I ended up plugging my switch into the Xbox HDMI in to clear up a slot.
Would be interesting to see if it's a big difference there's online comparison between the ps5/Xbox and this and it's really hard to tell the difference
playback is more reliable with 100gb discs, many complaints about the Sony online freezing at the layer changes

The PS4 Pro doesn't support playback of Ultra HD Blu-ray discs.
Great player, no issues with disks but it can't play media from USB/network that has Dolby Atmos audio encoded (might be all Dolby audio, not sure). :( Also the UI is not great, seems like this isn't a strength of Panasonic (same for their TVs).
Great player for physical media. For everything else get a shield

Bugger on some of these prices… picked mine up from them a few hours ago…
(Unlike DP-UB450) DP-UB820 can output 2K video from its "AUDIO OUT" HDMI port - if "HDMI(AUDIO) Output Mode" is set to “Video+Audio” then "VIDEO OUT" HDMI port degrades to 2K video too, so, need to change that setting back to "Audio Only" to obtain 4K from "VIDEO OUT" HDMI port again.
That’s an interesting one. I’ve done a good bit of setting fiddling today to get the most out of it but will have to double check that one.
