      I have used this for new ipad in the past too. I didn't even need to go to a different counter, the guy in the electronics section sold me the gift cards them sold me the price matched ipad.

      If the purchase is over the minimum amount (which escapes me at the moment) and under $1000, yes. If greater than $1000, you need to ensure that your name/address is on the tax invoice. I wouldn't expect payment method is an issue since the actual item is leaving the country.

      I had to find this out too for an upcoming trip.. the answer is yes.

          FYI Myer would treat the full gift card value as a liability or you as an unsecured creditor when a gift card is sold. GST is only collected when you redeemed it for goods or services therefore no GST could be claimed solely on gift cards. e.g. if you use your gift card to buy GST-free goods and ofcourse you don't get to claim a cent back for GST you don't pay for.

      You cant otherwise you'll also keep accumulating Myer One points non stop. They wouldnt even let me swap my Myer gift card for a Coles Myer gift card.

        You can't get Myer One points when buying gift cards. You only get the points when you purchase a product (with money/gift card/etc).

        Myer allows us to buy Myer Giftcards with Coles Myer Group Giftcards.
        * this is probably because by going from Coles Myer Group Giftcards to Myer Giftcards is considered as a downgrade (from many shops to Myer only)

        The following steps effectively give us 15% discount
        1. buy Coles Myer Group Giftcards with 5% discount (from NRMA etc)
        2. before 2 Sep, use the Coles Myer Group Giftcards to buy Myer Giftcard to get 10% bonus

      wouldn't you just buy $600 in gift cards therefore getting $50 in bonus cards = $650 = $21 left on card

      it's not a % of the purchase of gift cards, it's an extra $10 per $100

      edit: and I thought JB's sales don't include ipads in their 10% off

        I thought Myer price match policy is dodgy. I was told once they couldn't price match Target toy sale prices because it was below their cost. Not sure they will give the same excuse for iPad.

      I got new iPad 16GB 3G for $630 (before gift card discount considered) last month. I just asked them for their best price and they offered that price straight away. I guess it's just my lucky day. Just ask them first for the best price before trying to price match.
