Apparently DRAM-less. From what I could see, earlier models had DRAM but the more recent revisions do not.

At least we can see the projected timelines for when 4TB SSDs will approach the $200 mark :-D

    • Do the earlier models share the same model number?

      • Most likely yes, Silicon Power and Kingston love component swapping.

        • That's so wrong that a product is allowed to be downgraded without warning and keep the same model number. Many buyers would get tricked.

          • @Guybrush57: Yeah couldnt find anything about a revised model number. Apparently it can be checked in software, but its a little late at that point. The thread I was reading was 3 years old talking about the older models being DRAM, so I imagine its very unlikely anyone gets one of those 4+ year old models.

specs very similar to crutial mx500
decent price, very good for storage drive use. i would buy it if i need a storage drive at this moment.
hopefully the ssd price can go down further in the coming months

      This deal is for back-order,
because the delivery dates are August - September :-\

i mean even if 2 months later, i still do not need one unless something very special happens
i bought an mx500 late last year for about $370, and i have no further storage drive requirement at this moment…

MX500 has DRAM while this one seems to be DRAMless ….

It was, after switching from TLC to QLC it's much less interesting.

    • +3

MX500 is a dramatically better drive. These drives go slower than a spinning HDD when you copy more than about 8GB at a time. Very disappointing. I have a couple of the 500GB.

Does the "$229 or no deal" comments apply to this one as well? :D

    • I was holding out but got impatient and bit for $245.. super happy with the PNY as a pi Plex Server/NAS.
